Full payment for classes must be made at the time of course registration.

PAYMENT METHODS

The City will accept cash, personal checks, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) and money orders for the payment of fees. Unless otherwise noted, make checks payable to: City of Satellite Beach.

ONLINE REGISTRATION (credit card) Our website www.satellitebeachrecreation.org provides a link to our online registration system. Once there, you may login using your family user ID (this is the e-mail address you have on file with the Recreation Department) and password (click ‘Forgot your Password’ if you are logging on for the first time). The Credit Card processing company adds to the cost of your transaction either $1.95 or 2.5% of the total cost, whichever is greater. For assistance using the online system call the recreation office M-F 8:30am-5:00pm at (321) 773-6458.

MAIL IN (check/money order) Print a program registration form from our website at www.satellitebeachrecreation.org fill out completely, include payment and mail to: SATELLITE BEACH RECREATION, 1089 S. Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach 32937.

WALK IN (cash/ check/ credit card/ money order) You may register in person at the recreation office during our regular business hours, M-F 8:30am-5:00pm.

DROP OFF (check/ money order/cash) A registration drop box is available at the recreation office, in the DRS Community Center Lobby, for after business hours. Drop off registrations will be handled in the same manner as mail in registration.

REFUNDS Program refunds must be requested at least FIVE full business days prior to the start of the class, unless otherwise noted. If you notify the Recreation Dept later than five days, but before the first day of class, you may receive a partial refund. No refunds will be issued the day of or after the class has begun. Note: City Financial Policy states that checks must have 30 days to clear before a refund will be issued. Refunds back to a credit card are accomplished usually within 3 business days of the request. Additional fees will be charged for checks returned NSF and participation can be suspended until fees are paid in full. For facility refunds, refer to your rental contract for refund policy. RETURNED OR NSF CHECKS Customers will be contacted by the Recreation Department for any returned or NSF checks. See the complete NSF policy online at www.satellitebeachrecreation.org.

3 Creative Playtime for Babies Ages: 12-22 months Creative Playtime for Babies is a parent/child enrichment program that offers parent education and support for the stay at home as well as the working parent. We will have fun with sensory experiences and activities to encourage your child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, including weekly art activities and music. Super Hero Training Ages: 6-11yrs Showing children that they are not too young to “save a life” is a great way to give them self confidence and get them thinking about their role in the community. Sign Language for Beginners Ages: 7yrs-Adults Students will learn basic sign language, which includes finger spelling, numbers and important signing for emergencies. Learning to sign is much like learning a foreign language. Ms. Sherri is deaf and is able to communicate by lip reading. Academic Community Service Hours The Satellite Beach Recreation Department has a variety of ways for you to have fun, give back to the community, and earn academic community service hours. Please visit our Sign Up Genius website to search for opportunities and sign up. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044da8a92fa64-winter. Beach Clean-up Volunteers can participate in the Keep Brevard Beautiful monthly beach cleanup at Pelican Beach Park. Beginning at 8am on the second Saturday monthly, this informal cleanup is organized by Ethan Shoda and his mother, Kathy. Keep Brevard Beautiful supplies grabbers, buckets, trash bags and gloves. Interested in becoming a future leader in your community?

Join the nation-wide PAL Youth Development Council at their weekly meetings each Friday, at 5pm.

December 10 Satellite Beach Fire Department Open House

Rumor has it the GRINCH and his dog MAX plan to crash our

event to stop us from celebrating! We need your help to

come and join in the festivities from 6-9pm to spread lots of

cheer so he doesn’t stop all the fun! Games, bounce house,

face painting, balloon characters, Fire Truck display,

refreshments, raffle, prizes, and best of all… a visit from

SANTA! Toy donations will be accepted at the event for

December 11-16 Twilight Santa The Satellite Beach Fire Rescue and Paramedic Services along with the reserve firefighter organization present their Annual “Twilight Santa”, bringing cheer and happiness to people of all ages by parading Santa atop a brightly decorated fire truck through the streets of our community. December 16 Jingle Bell Run 2 Miler

This race is part of the Running Zone’s Race Series to benefit Satellite High School running programs. Lots of fun for everyone beginning at the Satellite Beach Library. Registration can be completed online at:

January 21 Rhythm In Motion Dance Showcase There will be an exciting performance by the Rhythm in Motion competition dancers at 1pm in the DRS Gymnasium. February 9-11 4th Annual Locals Only SurFest The 4th Annual Locals Only SurFest is sponsored by the City of Satellite Beach, Villon Clothing and Long Doggers consists of 160 surfers including Pro, Long board, Ladies, and Groms. Competition participants must be a Brevard County Resident to enter, with an exception of 10 slots for competitors outside the area. March 10 Big Truck Day So many BIG trucks – so little time! Fire trucks, dump trucks, cement mixer and more will be on hand for kids to explore, climb on, sit in and experience what it’s like to be in the driver’s seat. An adult must accompany kids. This FREE event is held in the parking lot of DRS Community Center from 10am-2pm. A horn-free hour, 10-11am, will make the event more enjoyable for children with special needs and/or sensitive ears. Refreshments will be available for purchase from the SB Lions Club.

March 11 Cornhole Tournament Come join in for Sunday Funday at Pelican Beach Park from 1-5pm as we eat and enjoy some beachside cornhole! Please register with Kelly at (321) 773-4409. Check in and warm up at 1pm, bags fly at 1:30pm. Cost is $20 per player. Last year we had a basket raffle with over 30 baskets! March 24 Jazz in the Park Kick back, relax and enjoy a delightful family afternoon of jazz music featuring the renowned Satellite High School ‘0’ Hour Jazz Band, Saturday, March 24, from 1-4pm at Pelican Beach Park. Park pavilions will provide sun cover and seating. You may bring your own blankets or chairs. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The event is free to the public. Donations will be accepted for the SHS Music Program.

March 29 Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt Children in 1st-6th grades hunt unassisted at this exciting night time event. Bags will be provided for your eggs, but bring your own flashlight. The cost is $7/child and tickets must be purchased at the SB Recreation Dept by 5pm March 29. Arrive at the DeSoto Field by 8:45pm. The hunt will begin promptly at 9pm. March 31 Breakfast with the Easter Bunny Infants through 1st grade will enjoy snack and juice, hunt for eggs, and watch the Easter Bunny arrive on the Fire Truck. This event is held at 10am at Pelican Beach Park. The cost is $7/child, and tickets are purchased in advance at the SB Recreation Department. Don’t wait, this event sells out every year!

April 7 Hook Kids on Fishing The 7th Annual Hook Kids on Fishing is coming to Satellite Beach! Youth will meet at the SB Library ponds at 8:30am to sign in. The program begins at 9am and ends at approximately 11am. There will be instruction on casting, fishing techniques, habitat restoration, conservation, knot tying and more! This FREE event for 6-16 year olds is sponsored by the Anglers For Conservation. Pre-registration is required by April 6th by calling SB Recreation, (321)773-6458. 11 Pickleball League Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, ping pong, & racquetball. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. It’s fast paced and easy to learn, great exercise and lots of fun. The Pickleball League is held on Wednesday evenings at the DRS Gymnasium.
