Cathedral Square is located at the corner of Barrack St and St Georges Terrace in the Perth CBD. It’s one of the oldest and most significant areas in Western Australia’s history. It was considered “Point Zero” – the starting point for all distances measured in Perth city.

The current redevelopment of the precinct involves $500M in project works including a new 32-storey office tower (31,000sqm of office space), 565 Hay St (9,000sqm of office space), the new City of Perth library, St. Georges Cathedral and Perth Town Hall.

The redevelopment of The State Buildings will revitalise a collection of former government buildings with a history spanning 135 years. This will transform our City’s most significant heritage precinct by breathing life back into the buildings which have been left vacant for nearly 20 years.

Our precinct will be full of individuals who exhibit absolute passion in their craft. They love what they do and are lucky enough to call it their livelihood. It’s our goal to share our tenant’s passion with our guests each day.

THE HOTELWith 48 rooms ranging in size from 50 to 120sqm, our hotel is anchor to a carefully curated mix of hospitality and retail offerings. Guests of our hotel will experience unwavering commitment to answer their every need. It will be a truly bespoke approach with a focus on guest individuality and personalised service.

Our vision is to embrace and pioneer experiential travel by giving guests an experience that goes well beyond a place to rest their head. Our staff will confidently share their knowledge on all aspects of Western Australian’s unique culture, from flora and fauna, to tourist attractions and a comprehensive knowledge of fine food, wine and entertainment. 

We will showcase Perth as a unique destination and ensure guests take home with them a truly luxurious, authentic West Australian experience.

RETAILERSWith 12 specialty retail stores (plus 8 food and beverage outlets), our team has targeted unique, design-conscious businesses that are committed to providing the highest quality products within their industry coupled with caring service.

Our retailers perfectly fit our vision for the buildings. They include a yoga/wellness facility, a chocolatier, a specialty barber, a meticulous barista and coffee cart, a handmade skincare and beauty outlet, and a unique European pastry shop.

CITY WINE EXCHANGEThe wine shop will be a meeting place for friends and colleagues to enjoy a drink, catch-up, and to explore the world of wine, ably served by our knowledgeable and helpful team. Within the light-filled heritage room and spilling out into the State Buildings magnificent Postal Hall, we are creating a relaxed, yet sophisticated space as a haven from the rush of the city.

We are an independent wine merchant with a strong online retail focus who will offer an extensive range of wines to suit every palate, from small-production hand-crafted wines to quality-focused large estates.  In keeping with our strong Western Australian heritage, we will offer a broad selection of locally sourced wines from both well-established and “up and coming” winemakers.

PAN-ASIAN RESTAURANTStashed away in the basement of the State Buildings and out of plain site, our Pan-Asian restaurant will be buzzing. Inspired by the street food of Southeast Asia, the menu will have deep respect for the authentic flavours and aims to serve only the freshest ingredients. Each dish will be expertly prepared, yet affordable. It’s the type of food that can be enjoyed every day. It will take our team hours to prepare but just minutes to come together.

The atmosphere will be playful, casual, and fast-paced. The seating will be communal and tables will be turned promptly. The space will contain a strong aesthetic presence as well as curated music to ensure a fun, vibrant and lively atmosphere.   The courtyard, GungHo, is an open air bar with its own identity that is predominately focused on drinking and entertainment. The chefs will prepare an alternative menu of inexpensive hawker-style street food.

BISTROThe name Helen derives from the historical figure of Helen Dance, who was the first person to drive an axe into the tree that marked the foundation of Perth. The contemporary menu at Helen will be designed with a passion for balanced flavours by using seasonal produce and culinary innovation.

We will be serving breakfast through to late night supper. Whether customers are in need of a short macchiato on the way to work, a delicious long lunch with friends, or joining loved ones for a gastronomic dinner, each option will be brilliantly prepared. The food will be fresh, healthy and vibrant. The staff will be well trained and have a great understanding of the menus. Every dish will be made with love.

CRAFT BEER BARThe craft beer bar is an 18-tap bar that prioritises good beer over everything. Beers sold on premise will be from independently owned, innovative and authentic craft brewers. WA breweries will be stocked with highest priority, Australian breweries second, and followed by international beers that are benchmarks for their style.

Our staff will be required to achieve their Cicerone Beer Server certification in order to better assist customers and foster an environment of educated exploration and conversation. All beers will be poured into proper glassware, ranging from 473ml tulips to 150ml snifter taster glasses. Beer is good and our bar will do everything in our power to make the experience as the brewers intended.   We will constantly invite master brewers to talk beer with enthusiasts and casuals alike. Our beer bar will champion limited release and one-off beers as occasions to be celebrated as well as stage degustation events, tap takeovers, and more.
