STAR is looking for you!You acquire a lot of valuable knowledge during your studies. But what value do you have to offer employers if you don’t know how to successfully apply all these models and management techniques in a real and practical way?

Becoming active at STAR and working on a great project will help you to gain practical experience, develop your social skills and meet a lot of enthusiastic people. Besides this, STAR has close relationships with the university and the business world which opens doors that otherwise would remain closed.

STAR is the study association that offers the most diverse opportunities for personal development. In total we have 40 STAR committees, Master Study Clubs and Functional Teams which you can be part of. Each committee offers you a different challenge which you can experience for yourself!

The STAR Case Competitions Committee is a new committee and will be organizing several case competition events throughout the year and creates a network to set up more case competitions.

What does the committee do?In a case competition, participants compete for the best solution to a business case study under time pressure. This case can be about strategy, marketing, finance, etc.The competition will take several days, and each day two considerable groups will try to solve the case. In the end they will present their outcomes to the judges (professors and/or company representatives) and the audience. At the end of the competition the judges will decide which university has won.

MissionThe mission is to organize and promote a diversity of case competitions, in Rotterdam as well as abroad.

In a fun and non-mandatory atmosphere, around 150 first-year students meet each other and create social bonds before the year even starts. Introduction Days can be summarized as lots of fun, new friendships, and unforgettable memories!

What does the committee do?As a committee you are responsible for organizing the Introduction Days for either IBA or BA. You thus contact external parties for the activities and try to make as many students as possible enthusiastic about joining the event.

MissionMaking sure that the students who are participating in the IBA or BA Introduction days have some days they will never forget!

The STAR International Career Committee is a new committee and will be organizing several events for international students, bringing students in contact with future employers (e.g. company visits or in-house days abroad).

What does the committee do?This project aims to give international students of RSM the possibility to make them aware of the opportunities on the European labor market by generation contacts with top-class employees. One of the events could be a themed company visit which will take place in one specific geographical industry cluster. The aim is to combine several company visits into a two-day trip, which allows companies to share costs and decline time.

MissionThe mission of the STAR International Career Committee is to bring international students in contact with future employers and give students the possibility to gain practical insights into a broad range of industries.

International Career

Each year, STAR produces an agenda for all BA & IBA students, with the aim of profiling STAR, while providing students with valuable information to guide them through the year.

What does the committee do?As a committee, your mission is to create a diary that stands out by combining functionality with creativity. Functionality because the diary has to provide students with interesting and useful information about STAR, the university, and its students. Creativity because you want to make something that is eye-catching, fun and businesslike all in one.

MissionThe mission is to profile STAR throughout the whole year by giving students a free agenda in which we communicate the activities of the University and STAR, as well as to provide useful information on student life in Rotterdam.

STAR Interface Magazine is the official student magazine of the Rotterdam School of Management. It offers students, alumni, and employees of RSM interesting interviews with CEOs, politicians and other fascinating people, in-depth articles about current affairs related to Business Administration and Economics, and more.

What does the committee do?The Interface committee is responsible for the entire process of creating the Interface. This includes the positioning of the magazine, writing of articles, conducting interviews, designing, publishing and promotion of the magazine. As an Interface writer you will get be at the front row of big events and have the chance to meet inspiring people.

MissionThe mission of Interface Magazine is to inform, entertain and inspire RSM students.

The STAR Management Week is one of the largest student events in the Benelux. This week-long, nationwide showcase event is considered our annual highlight and takes place in October. It is a linking pin between students, academia and our corporate network.

What does the committee do?As a member of the STAR Management Week Committee you are responsible for the entire organization of this large event. Because the week offers students a broad variety of activities, being part of the committee is a truly diverse experience.

Many projects organized by STAR depend on financial support and knowledge of companies. The Commercial Team keeps STAR in contact with those important stakeholders. They think about new acquisition possibilities and chances.

What does the team do?The Commercial Team helps committees with aquisition by giving information, tips or even take over some actual acquisition. The team makes sure that they know what’s going on within the companies so they can tell which companies might be interested in different activities. The team is there to find a win-win situation.

MissionTo explore new acquisition possibilities and manage existing accounts so that STAR and all its committees can benefit, with the focus on long-term collaboration.

Commercial Team

Within a big student association like STAR, it is all about communication and creativity. The members of the Marketing Team are primary responsible for correct functioning of all internal and external marketing expressions, brand image and services of STAR. Within this team, members will gain skills about all facets involved in managing the marketing-infrastructure of a professional organization.

What does the team do?How students perceive STAR and the way STAR wants to be perceived by different stakeholders is crucial. The Marketing Team is challenged to build a stable professional STAR brand by assisting committees in their marketing communication.

MissionNext to building the STAR Brand, the mission of the Marketing Team is to give students -who are interested in marketing -the opportunity to develop themselves in this area.
