Cleaning Guide and Tips

Whilst Standard GRP Grit Grating is extremely resilient to dirt and contaminants, it can, as with most other things, become dirty.

Dirt and debris can easily be removed using a stiff brush and should be carried out on a regular basis.

If Standard GRP Grit Grating has been subjected to spillages or the dirt has become embedded, detergents such as our Heavy Duty Degreaser or similar can be used. It is always advisable to test any cleaning product on Standard GRP Grating before starting the cleaning procedure. This can be done in an inconspicuous area of the installation or, if preferred, a sample can be sent, free of charge for testing purposes.

Using the detergent, warm water and a suitable brush, scrub the areas until clean. The excess water can be removed using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner or suitable absolvable materials.

Where circumstances allow, Standard GRP Grating can be power washed without causing harm.

General Routine Maintenance The security of the fixings/adhesive should be checked on a regular basis. Circumstances will vary, based upon the volume of foot traffic etc, as a guide, monthly inspections would be advisable.

Measured using the Pendulum test method (WF rubber slider) - certificate available on request.

‘C’ Clip ‘L’ Clip ‘M’ Clip ‘Birds Mouth’ Clip

Fitting the Panels

‘C’ Clips:

Used to join two panels together. One clip should be affixed every 500mm - place the clip over the two load bars of both panels, and then manoeuvre down so the clip is horizontal and slotted into place. Then push the screw through the clip holes and screw into the washer and bolt.

‘M’ and ‘L’ Clips:

Used for drilling down your grating into place. M’ Clips are used for when your grating has closed mesh edges, L’ Clips are used for when your grating has open mesh edges. Set out where you will be positioning your grating clips. These should be in every corner of the grating panel, and then every 500mm inwards around the rest of the grating. Push the clips into the open mesh squares so that the clip sits neatly on the load bar, and the base of the clip is sitting close to the bottom of the grating panel.

‘J’ Clamp

‘J Clamps are used for securing your GRP Grating. To install you will need to push ‘M’ or ‘L’ clip into the open mesh squares so that the clip sits neatly on the load bars and the base of the clip is sitting close to the bottom of the grating panel. Then place the J clamp underneath the grating so it sits flush. Pilot drill through the hole in the clip and the J clamp into the substrate then fix using appropriate screw and plug.

Please note, clips are made from 316 stainless steel.
