Stand Up For Jesus Used by Permission CCLI 56448
1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the cross!
Lift high his royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army he shall lead
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed. / 2

And strength to strength oppose. / 3

3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
Stand in his strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on salvation armour,
And watching unto prayer,
Where duty calls or danger,
Be never wanting there. / 4

4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor's song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be,
He with the King of Glory
Shall reign eternally. //
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100
I will enter his gates
with thanksgiving in my heart,
I will enter his courts with praise,
I will say this is the day that the Lord has made,
I will rejoice for he has made me glad
He has made me glad, he has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has made me glad
He has made me glad, he has made me glad,
I will rejoice for he has made me glad
I will enter his gates with thanksgiving

Leader: Answer me when I call to you,
O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles.
Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
Response: How long will you people ruin my reputation?
How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies?
Leader: You can be sure of this:
The Lord set apart the godly for himself.
The Lord will answer when I call to him.
Response: Don’t sin by letting anger control you.
Think about it overnight and remain silent.
Leader: Offer sacrifices in the right spirit,
and trust the Lord.
Response: Many people say,
“Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, Lord.
Leader: You have given me greater joy
than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine
Response: In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.

Psalm 4 NLT
1 Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
David cries out in distress:
Psalm 4 NLT
2 How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? 3 You can be sure of this: The Lord set apart the godly for himself. The Lord will answer when I call to him.
David is attacked by his enemies:
Psalm 4 NLT
4 Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. 5 Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord.
David turns to his friends in need:
Psalm 4 NLT
6 Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, Lord. 7 You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
David cries out to God in confidence:
Instead of looking at God from the shadow of our problems – David
encourages us to look at our problems in the light
of God’s power!
1. David knew about prayer
“Prayer delights God’s ear, it melts His heart, and it opens His hand. God cannot deny a praying soul.”
Thomas Watson
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve. I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things. I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men. I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life. I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for but got everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all people, most richly blessed.
