With the IndustrialIT Extended Automation System 800xA,ABB is presenting an automation system that by purposefulintegration of the software andhardware components involvedprovides the right information atthe right place in real time.Following its successful launchlast year, we are now showingyou the latest version of the800xA system.

800xA Operations:800xA Operations is an efficient, intuitive operator interface.Using the unique Aspect Object architecture, data from theentire plant are consistently managed, edited, and madeavailable as high-quality information – customized to suit theuser concerned. Depending on the requirements involved,the information is individually tailored to the needs of opera-tors, service experts or managers. In all cases, it’s only amouse-click away. The presentation is rounded off byexamples from several different sectors – displayed on alarge-size wide-wall console.

800xA Device Management and Asset Optimization:You can use the device management and asset optimizationfunctions to enhance energy efficiency, cut repair costs, andoptimize system availability and performance. System 800xAseamlessly integrates fieldbuses and field devices of the threemajor field bus protocols HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus(FF) and PROFIBUS.

800xA High Integrity: 800xA High Integrity is a compre-hensive, scalable safety instrumented system (SIS). It reduces the risks for personnel, installation work and thenatural environment, while at the same time significantlyimproving the system’s availability and efficiency. 800xA HighIntegrity, for example, meets the industrial standards IEC61508 and IEC 61511, and covers the entire safety loop,with SIL-certified AC 800M controllers, field devices, I/Omodules, sensors and actuators.

800xA Production Management: 800xA ProductionManagement provides new manufacturing managementfunctions like material tracking and electronic batch record-ing.

800xA Engineering: 800xA Engineering allows for integra-tion of real-time information. There is only one source for alldata in the system. This results in a consistent informationflow throughout all phases of the engineering work, andincreased overall productivity.

800xA Controller: In addition to the AC 800M HI HighIntegrity Controller, another 800xA controller, AC 870P, isavailable. It is designed for large to very large applications, inthe utility sector, for example.

Fieldbus in hazardous areas: The S900 remote I/Osystem can be installed directly in the hazardous areas ofZone 1 and Zone 2. It communicates via the fieldbus withthe control system level, and reduces marshalling and wiringcosts. The system is compactly dimensioned, sturdy, fault-tolerant and easy to maintain. It offers a redundant busstructure, cyclical transmission of the HART secondaryvariables, plus parameterization and diagnostics of all HARTfield devices via the fieldbus.

IT Security in Industrial Automation: The security ofcomputer systems becomes increasingly important becauseautomation systems include more and more components,which are integrated and networked with each other. Cyberattacks, intruders as well as unintentional or malicious securityviolations are threats, which have to be prevented. ABBaccordingly attaches particular priority to access rights,data integrity and threat management.

Freelance 800F: The compact process control system forsmall and medium-size plants can be completely integratedinto 800xA. The new DigiVis visualization function providedin the latest version (8.1) of Freelance 800F has been opti-mized for high-resolution monitors. There will be a market-responsive migration option for upgrading DigiBatch sys-tems to 800xA Batch Management.

Process control systems for power plants and waterfacilities With “IndustrialIT for Power Generation” and “IndustrialIT forthe Water Industry”, we are exhibiting scalable ABB processcontrol applications for power plants and water facilities.

System solutions for the chemical industry ABB’s system solutions for the chemical, pharmaceuticaland consumer industries are based on the controllers of the800xA family (AC 800M, AC 870P, AC 800F). These solu-tions enable the user, for example, to create and utilizespecific libraries or to provide project-specific services likevalidation. Batch-driven production methods are monitoredby System 800xA’s Batch Management function.
