DESCRIPTIONStainTrode D is an enhanced chromium-nickel electrodeformulated to weld dissimilar stainless steels and stainlesssteels of unknown composition. Its chemistry is enrichedfor use with AISI grade 310. This premium stainless steelelectrode is easily handled and has very good scaling andoxidation resistance up to 2100° F.

WELDING PROCEDURE & TECHNIQUE

PPrreeppaarraattiioonn:: Clean weld area of scale and/or oxide. Makesure all oily contaminants are removed with a suitableVOC-free cleaner. Angle prepping normally involves close-butts and infrequently bevel preparations. If needed, a 60°V bevel is acceptable. Pre-heating of stainless steels is gen-erally not required.

TTeecchhnniiqquuee:: A short, non-contact technique is recommend-ed for both fillet and butt-welding. Use a slightly longerarc-length for bead-on-plate welding. Deposit stringerbeads or 2 times to 3 times weave beads. Do not weavemore than three times the electrode diameter otherwiseexcessive heat input will cause distortion.

PPoosstt--WWeellddiinngg:: Allow parts to cool naturally in still air.
