about. The funniest ghost story ever written. Novelist Charles Condomine enlists Ma-dame Arcati, one of the most delightfully eccentric characters you will ever meet, to hold a séance at his home hoping to raise some ideas for a new book. Instead, she rais-es the ghost of his former wife, Elvira, who is determined to wreak havoc (and succeeds) on Charles’ current marriage to Ruth. Re-cently revived on Broadway to hilarious ef-fect, Blithe Spirit is one of Coward’s most sparkling comedies.
Blithe Spirit is recommended for general audiences.
Playwright. Famous for his wit and flamboy-ance, Academy Award-winning Noel Coward was an English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer. After his London office and flat had been destroyed in the Blitz, he wrote Blithe Spirit, sensing that British audiences would respond well to an escapist comedy. Other famous works by Coward are Present Laughter, Private Lives and Hay Fever.

about. An epic mystery that has captivated and stunned audiences around the globe. After their mother’s death, twins Janine and Simon, guided by letters the mother has left each, travel to the Middle East to untangle family roots entwined in a war ravaged past. A play of raw power and poetic resonance, the Syra-cuse Stage production will feature original music by the world renowned Kronos Quar-tet and marks the return of director Marcela Lorca (Caroline, or Change).
Scorched is recommended for mature audiences due to adult language and violent situations.
Playwright. Wajdi Mouawad is a multi-award winning Lebanese-Canadian writer, actor and director. At age six, he and his family fled from Beirut in 1975 as a result of the Lebanese Civil War. Drawing upon that experience and inspired by Greek tragedies as well as Kafka, he wrote Scorched. A film version, Incendies, was Canada’s official selection for the 2011 Academy Awards.

about. The beloved family classic returns to Central New York after a seven year absence in a music-driven adaptation new to Syra-cuse audiences. “I was amazed not only at its beauty and durability, but its blazing the-atricality,” playwright Romulus Linney once noted of Dickens’ most famous Christmas story. “It is part Hamlet, in its devastating revelations by fantastic ghosts, part Every-man, in its sure progression toward spiritual salvation, and part Charlie Chaplin, in its fun and overflowing good spirits.”
A Christmas Carol is recommended for gen-eral audiences. Please note children over the age of five are welcome at Syracuse Stage per-formances.
A magical journey through past, present, andfuture inspires peace and joy for the holidays.

An American businessman arrives in a bustling Chinese province looking to score a lucrative contract, but the deal isn’t the only thing lost in translation as he tangles with a govern-ment official, a bumbling consultant, and a suspiciously sexy bureaucrat. about. The Glass Menagerie is the play that launched Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tennessee Williams’ career and is among the masterworks of the American stage. Drawn from Williams’ life, this moving play explores the il-lusory nature of dreams and the fragility of hope. Abandoned by the father of her children, Aman-da is obsessed with finding a suitor for her shy and vulnerable daughter, Laura. Tom, the restless and sensitive son who narrates the story, eases his frustrations with nighttime escapes to the mov-ies. At Amanda’s urgings, Tom asks a co-worker to dinner. Can this “gentleman caller” offer any light to these bruised souls clinging to the tat-tered edges of lost dreams and faded hopes?
The Glass Menagerie is recommended for ages 13 and up.
Playwright. Tennessee Williams is widely con-sidered the greatest Southern playwright and one of the greatest playwrights in the history of American drama. His works include A Street-car Named Desire (1948 Pulitzer Prize), Sum-mer and Smoke, The Rose Tattoo, Camino Real, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1955 Pulitzer Prize), Suddenly Last Summer, Sweet Bird of Youth and Night of the Iguana.
An aging Southern Belle dreams of a better life for her children in the hauntingly beautiful American classic.
