A WORD FROM THE PASTOR
As we approach our national holiday, July 4 – "Independence Day" - we are reminded by our American bishops and our universal church that we are to value and promote our first, most
cherished liberty – Freedom of religion. This is not a Catholic or Jewish or Orthodox or Mormon or Muslim issue. It is an American issue.
As Catholics we are obliged to defend the right to religious liberty for ourselves and for others. Together with our fellow Christians, joined by our Jewish brothers and sisters, and in partnership with Americans of other religious traditions, we affirm that our faith requires us to defend the religious liberty granted us by God and protected in our Constitution.
You are encouraged to read more about how religious liberty is meant to be a positive influence on various political issues we are working through as a country. You can go to the United States Conference of C a t h o l i c B i s h o p s w e b s i t e t o l e a r n more: www.usccb.org/religious liberty. Please consider the following prayer from the website:

Adoration
SPEND PRECIOUS TIME
WITH THE LORD
SATURDAY
JULY 7 9 am - Noon
“How great is the value of conversation with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, for there is
nothing more consoling on earth, nothing more efficacious for
advancing along the road of holiness!” Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei
“Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love.”
Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Canae Almighty God, Father of all nations,
For freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus.
We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty,
the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good.
Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote
our liberties; By your grace may we have the
courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who
live in this blessed land. We offer this prayer through our
Lord Jesus Christ, who desires ultimately to liberate us from sin
within our lives, our nation and world. Amen

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to the following St. Vincent de Paul parishioners who earned Fourth Quarter Honor Roll.
FAMILY PERSPECTIVES
In times of crisis, sickness or death families can be quickly overcome with panic and confusion as in the
scene of today’s Gospel. Purposely seeking God together in faith will
dispel the fear and confusion and allow miracles to happen.
WE WANT YOUR CANS!
Our Knights of Columbus are collecting all cans to recycle and h e l p f u nd o u r p a r i s h ’ s Capital Campaign. Cat food, dog
food, people food…all may be recycled with 100% proceeds going to help achieve our $1.6M goal. Already recycled are empty propane tanks, empty fire extinguishers, and metal piping.
Anything metal gets recycled by dropping it in the trailer by the paper recycling bins in the large parking lot following the Saturday evening (5 to 6:30) and Sunday Masses (9 to noon) on June 30 and July 1, then every 2 weeks thereafter.
For more information, contact the Knights at 650-576-2677
