MISSIONARIES OF MERCY Paul’s back! After last week’s “violent abuse,” opponents organized a lynch mob that beat Paul nearly to death. But call Paul the “energizing evangelist,” transforming deadly cruelty into life-giving zeal. Paul’s past cour-age should inspire our commitment; Revela-tion’s future “new heaven, new earth” should inspire our optimism. But Revelation’s pre-sent assurance, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with the human race,” should challenge us to become “missionaries of mercy.” Because Pope Francis declared that the Church’s credibility is completely dependent on our showing unconditional mercy. Mercy, said Francis, makes the Church, the world, and everyone young again, reawakened to life’s noblest virtues. Fittingly, in today’s Gospel Jesus reinforces that theme: “This is how all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA
We have added a new date for new student Registra-tion for the 2019-2020 school year. Registration for students new to our catechism program will take place on May 28th from 6pm to 8pm at the parish hall. Please bring proof of your address (a bill that shows your name and current address), photo ID and a copy of your child’s baptism certificate. The fee for 1st com-munion preparation is $90 for the first child and $15 for each additional sibling. The cost for Confirmation preparation for the year is $110.

OFFICE HOURS
St. Thomas is preparing food for the “Table” at the Presbyterian Church every third Thursday of each month. We hope you will use the sign-up sheet so we know what food you bring and who the volun-teer helpers will be on that Thursday. We need potatoes, carrots, ham, green beans, and milk. The sign-up sheet for the food is on the “Table” board and a half barrel marked “Table” under-neath where you can put food the Sunday before. This is on the NW corner of the Social Hall.

BBQ Chicken Fundraiser—St. Thomas
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, June 7, the First Friday of the month, from 9am to 10pm. Mass is celebrated at 12pm. Please come and join us for Adoration on this First Friday. We need people to sign up for an hour or adoration during the 13 hours. The sign-up sheet is on the parish bulletin board in the church hall. Please consider signing up for an hour to ensure we have every hour covered, and hopefully by more than just one person per hour.
BLESSED SACRAMENT ADORATION
The parish office will be closed Monday, May 27, in celebration of Memorial Day. We will open on Tuesday, May 28 from 9am to 1pm.
MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE
We hear in the Gospel for this weekend Jesus telling his disciples, “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples.” I was reflecting on what message was Jesus trying to give to his disciples. What does it mean to love others? I believe that to love others means to do exactly what Jesus did. He was kind, always respectful of others, regardless of who they were or what they had done. He was forgiving and always was ready to fulfill the needs of others. Do we do that in our daily lives? Are we respectful of others or do we judge, condemned or speak ill of others? Do we forgive or do we harbor anger and/or resentment towards others? I believe that the type of relationship that we have with God will manifest itself in the way that we treat oth-ers. As St. John Paul II once said, “For a priest to be a good confessor, he must be a person who goes to confession on a regular basis. He must experience the mercy of God to be merciful towards others.” One cannot say that we love God and be unkind and uncharitable with others. Let us continue to pray so that God may continue to nour-ish and strengthen our faith so that we might always follow His example and always treats others as we would like to be treated as God treats all of us. May God continue to bless all of us and our parish of St. Thomas, Fr. Abel
On June 2nd we will be selling (3lbs.) Smoked chicken with rice and beans for $20 as a fund-raiser for our parish. Thank you for supporting our parish with this fundraiser.
ANUNCIOS DE LA PARROQUIA
En la Iglesia de Santo Tomás tenemos la Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento el viernes 7 de junio de 9am a 10pm. El Santísimo Sacramento estará expuesto en la custodia en el altar para Adoración y oración hasta las 10pm y la misa se cele-brará a las 12pm en Ingles. Por favor ven-ga y acompáñenos para la Adoración en este primer viernes. Invitamos que perso-
nas se registren para una hora de adoración. La hoja de inscripción está en el tablero de anuncios en el salón de la iglesia. Considere inscribirse durante una hora para ase-gurarse de que tengamos por lo menos un adorador por hora, y si es posible más de una persona por hora.
Escuchamos en el Evangelio para este fin de semana que Jesús les dijo a sus discípulos: “Como yo los he amado, tam-bién ustedes deben amarse unos a otros. Así es como todos sabrán que ustedes son mis discípulos.” Estaba reflexio-nando sobre qué mensaje trataba de dar Jesús a sus discípulos. ¿Qué significa amar a los demás? Creo que amar a los demás significa hacer exactamente lo que Jesús hizo. Él era amable, siempre respetuoso con los demás, independien-temente de cómo eran o lo que habían hecho. Él perdonaba y siempre estaba dispuesto a satisfacer las necesidades de los demás. ¿Hacemos eso en nuestra vida diaria? ¿Somos respetuosos con los demás o juzgamos, condenamos o ha-blamos mal de los demás? ¿Perdonamos o albergamos la ira y / o el resentimiento hacia los demás? Creo que el tipo de relación que tenemos con Dios se manifestará de la misma manera que tratamos a los demás. Como dijo una vez San Juan Pablo II: “Para que un sacerdote sea un buen confesor, debe ser una persona que se confiesa regularmente. Él debe experimentar la misericordia de Dios para ser misericordioso con los demás.” Uno no puede decir que ama-mos a Dios y ser cruel y no ser caritativo con los demás. Continuemos orando para que Dios continúe alimentando y fortaleciendo nuestra fe para que siempre podamos seguir su ejemplo y siempre tratemos a los demás como nos gus-taría que nos trataran como Dios nos trata a todos. Que Dios continúe bendiciéndonos a todos y a nuestra parroquia de Santo Tomás. P. Abel

El domingo 2 de junios estaremos vendiendo po-llo ahumado con arroz y frijoles por $20 para recaudar fondos para nuestra parroquia. Muchas gracias por ayudar a nuestra parroquia.

Añadimos otra fecha para la registración para nuevos estudiantes para el año escolar 2019-2020. Registración para nuevos estudiantes en nuestro programa de catecismo serán el martes 28 de mayo de 6pm a 8pm en el salón parro-quial. Favor de traer comprobante de domicilio (una cuenta que indique su nombre y su domici-lio actual), identificación con foto y la copia de bautismo de su niño/a. La cuota para el progra-ma por el primer niño/a es $90 y $15 para cada niño (hermano/a) adicional. La cuota para el programa de confirmación es $110.
