The crowds in today’s gospel had nothing to eat, but our Lord knew the had another hunger apart from that of
the stomach. They followed Jesus, listening to every word he spoke, and in none of the stories does it say that
they were bothered about food for the body. In today’s episode, it is the apostles who expressed this concern, on
behalf of the people. In another place it says that Jesus “looked at the crowd, and felt sorry for them, because
they had been with him for several days, and had nothing to eat.” Yet the twin hungers in today’s world are for
meaning as well as for food.

How will we keep the church clean & disinfected? We have put in certain measures to help keep our environment as safe as possible & after each Mass the marshals will clean all the surfaces where people have had contact. We do please need more volunteers as I’m sure you can imagine, cleaning the whole church after each Mass is a massive task. Please see the Parish clergy if you are able to help.
Please be aware, advice at the moment is that the rest room should remain closed due to the cleaning implications, so please only use in special circumstances.
Your Offertory
In the current Covid 19 environment we are very
grateful to those parishioners whose offertory is paid
by standing order.
Since Services stopped in March, in Church offertory
both envelope and loose have reduced by over 75%. If
you usually donate in cash, or if you are in the
envelope scheme could you please consider changing
to a weekly/monthly standing order instead?
Forms are available at the back of the church. If you
are able to gift aid your donation, then you will need to
complete the Gift aid declaration on the bottom of the
form. (If you are currently a gift aider then signing this
declaration will not be necessary).
Complete the attached standing order mandate. If you
bank online, then please set up the standing order
yourself. Payee WRCDT –St Saviours Abbots Langley

Appeal for face masks: Sourcing PPE, as everyone knows, is a
huge issue at the moment. The unforeseen cost is a challenge,
of course, at a time when routine fund-raising is also scuppered
and weekly donations are dropping, so we are making an
appeal for face masks to protect the clergy, servers, readers,
Eucharist ministers and other parishioners. Please remember
that We strongly advise that face coverings should be worn by
all those attending a place of worship, the face covering is
strongly advised for all who come to church for personal prayer
and mass. Thank you very much.
Baptism Course is scheduled for Sunday 16 August 2020,
9.15am at St Saviours for Parents who want their child’s
baptised. There is no need to book, simply come along.
