FROM THE PASTOR…

Dear Parishioners,

When we gathered on Holy Saturday morning to adorn the church with the Easter Flowers, the suggestion was made, through our Vino Nuevo Apostolate, that we organize a Spring cleaning day for the interior of the church. That day was this weekend (Saturday). A band of volunteers showed up to dust, scrub, vac-uum, polish, wipe, sponge, mop, scour (and any other synonymic verbs you can think of) the nooks and crannies of our worship space. We deeply appreciate this initiative, and recognize the loving care our folks show for their spiritual home. The care continues this Monday, with the periodic carpet shampooing and extraction. This is done by an outside company. You can help maintain our church by never bringing inside food or drink (for yourself or any children); by not leaving tissues, papers, bulletins and other debris in the pew when you exit; and by using the scraper/wiper mats at the entrances when you enter, especially in wet weather. There are two special support envelopes dated this Sunday, June 10th. The Retire-ment Fund for Religious is misdated—that collection will be taken up in December 2018. Please disregard that envelope. Any early returns of that envelope (checks to be cashed now) will be held and added to the December total.

The June 10th AIR CONDITIOING envelope can be used for this Sunday’s second col-lection, or anytime in June or July. $50 per family is requested to help with the expenses of

running and maintaining this utility, which keeps our church comfortable for worship during the summer months. Thank you.

NEXT SUNDAY (JUNE 17TH) IS FATHERS DAY

A novena of parish Masses will be offered for your indicated intentions. Use the Fathers Day envelope in your parish packet or one available at the rear of the church, and return it to us for placement on the altar during June.

There will be a special blessing of fathers at parish Masses next weekend.

Diane is off to join her husband in San Diego, where she has obtained a teaching position. Congratulations to Diane and her proud parents, Elizabeth and Nestor!

ABOVE: Everilda and Cándido Gon-zalez celebrated their wedding Mass here on May 19th. Relatives made the trip from Gua-temala to take part. Their children, Marilyn and Jared (both Altar Servers here), took an active part in the liturgy. The presentation of the bride (to the groom) by her father at the start of the service deeply touched one and all. Blessings for the future!

ATTENTION FIRST COMMUNION FAMILIES

The First Communion photos have arrived. They can be picked up, along with the banner and certificate, this coming Wednesday, 3 pm to 5 pm, at the rectory office.

RIGHT: One of our First Communicants, Jacob Lopez, has parents who both serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion in our parish. Here is his mom, Tatiana, min-istering the Body of Christ to Jacob for the first time, while his dad, Juan, in the upper left corner, then ministered the Blood of Christ. Congratulations to all who received sacraments (Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Baptismat St. Raphael’s in recent days!

Our organist, Jan, is at a family reunion in Texas this weekend, so we welcome two subs who are fill-ing in: Jake Montagnino at the Saturday 5 pm, Sunday 11 am and 12:30 pm Masses; and Jeff Cubeta, filling in at the Sunday 8 am liturgy. Thanks for the assist!

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE Msgr. Jonas Achacoso is hosting a pilgrimage to the Holy Land
