Parish Pastoral Council
NOMINATIONS FOR PASTORAL COUNCIL 2018-2019 Our parish is continually blessed to have parishioners who are willing to serve in our mission “to restore all things in Christ.” In that tradition we ask that you prayerfully consider nominating those who you believe would be willing to serve on the Pastoral Council. We are seeking four new members to replace those who will have completed their terms as of June 30, 2018. WHAT DOES THE COUNCIL DO? The Council assists the Pastor in formulating policy and in pastoral planning for the entire parish. This is done through the process of communal discernment, including prayerful reflection, gathering of information and shared wisdom. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Members must be baptized, practicing Catholics; 18 years of age or older; and registered parishioners The By-Laws of the Pastoral Council suggest that members should have talents that can contribute to the work
of the Council, and that the overall membership of the Council represent the entirety of the parish. WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR MEMBERS? Members will be asked to commit to a 1, 2 or 3 year term beginning July 1, 2018. Attend one meeting per month, usually on the fourth Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Attend the Annual Leadership Meeting. Attend the Commission meeting where the member serves as the appointed Chairperson. And, participate in other activities as agreed upon. WHEN IS DISCERNMENT? Discernment will take place on Saturday, June 2 from 9AM – Noon in the Parish Office. QUESTIONS? Contact Frank Birner – 630-816-5527 or [email protected] Cut here

The Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal helps our parish and the Diocese of Joliet to provide countless ministries, programs and services to support our friends and neighbors in immeasurable ways. A mailing was sent to all parishioners who have not yet made a gift to the CMAA. Despite the severe February snowstorm we encountered over Commitment (In-Pew) Weekend, we are confident we can still meet our goal if we all partner together. If you have not done so already, I ask that you please reflect on God’s gifts to you and prayerfully consider supporting the CMAA. A gift to the CMAA, no matter the amount, will make a difference! By partnering together, we can continue to spread the Gospel message in our Diocese through our ministries. Thank you for your support.

Montini Students Earn Titles At Argonne Competition The robotic students of Montini Catholic High School earned 2nd Place titles in two categories at the Argonne Autonomous Vehicle Competition which was held Sunday, April 8 at the Museum of Science and Industry. The competition was structured and modeled after the engineering design cycle that Argonne engineers and scientists practice. Teams were judged on their engineering design, process, vehicle design and performance. Students needed to design, build and program an autonomous vehicle that could safely carry a 3D printed passenger around a course with three weather challenges. Student teams needed to write a project proposal for their vehicle which need to include their components and design elements with a budget of $150. Montini’s team of Max Kramer, Alex Walsh, Diego Trimarco, Ray Zimmerman, Abby Wolf and Jake Mondschean began working on the project in January. Max and Alex used 3D design software to design and print body panels and other components for the vehicle. Diego and Ray developed the code to run the vehicle and keep it on track. Abby and Jake worked on the construction, documentation and testing. The competition was open to the public at the Museum of Science and Industry. The vehicles were scored on speed, safety of the “passenger” and several other measures. Peter Farina, Montini’s Technology Director and Robotics instructor, was proud of the teamwork, dedication and collaboration the six students demonstrated. The team won 2nd place in two different categories – Design Category and a Performance Category. Diego Trimarco and Abby Wolf are both graduates of St. Pius X School.
