Feast of All Saints by Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, OCD

Holy Mother Church, always solicitous and anxious for our salvation, exults today with exceeding joy as she contemplates the glory of her children who, hav-ing reached their heavenly fatherland, are safe for all eternity, forever delivered from the snares of the evil one, and now numbered everlastingly among the elect, the people of God. Like a mother, proud of the triumph of her children, she presents them to the whole Christian world, inviting all the faithful to share her maternal joy: “Let us all rejoice in the Lord, celebrating a feast in honor of all the saints, at whose solemnity the angels rejoice and give praise to the Son of God” (Introit). The Epistle (Ap 7, 2-12) offers us the apocalyptic vision of the glory of the saints: “ I saw a great mul-titude which no man could number, of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and in the sight of the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and with palms in their hands.” Ranks of martyrs, apostles, confessors, and virgins, lumi-nous hosts who delight unceasingly in the vision of God, adore Him continually and praise Him as they repeat: “Benediction and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength to our God forever and ever. Amen.” Who are these glorious saints? Men who have lived upon earth as we have, who have known our miser-ies, our difficulties, our struggles. Some of them we recognize, for the Church has raised them to the hon-ors of the Altar, but the great majority are entirely unknown to us. They are humble people who lived obscurely in the accomplishments of duty, without display, without renown, whom no one here below remembers, but whom the heavenly Father looked

Memorial Mass: Our Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, November 3, at 6:15 p.m. If you have lost a loved one in the years of 2016 and 2017, and want him/her remembered by name, there will be forms available by the entrances of the church for you to fill out, or you may request a form in the parish office. The completed form must be legible and turned in to the parish office by Wednesday, November 1. La Santa Madre Iglesia, siempre solícita y ansiosa por nuestra salvación, se regocija hoy con gran ale-gría al contemplar la gloria de sus hijos que, habien-do alcanzado su patria celestial, están seguros por toda la eternidad, librados para siempre de las tram-pas del maligno, y ahora están eternamente numera-dos entre los elegidos, el pueblo de Dios. Como una madre, orgullosa del triunfo de sus hijos, los presen-ta a todo el mundo cristiano, invitando a todos los fieles a compartir su alegría maternal: “Regocijémonos en el Señor, al celebrar una fiesta en honor a Todos los Santos, a cuya solemnidad los Ángeles se regocijan y alaban al Hijo de Dios” (Introit). Did You Know? Pay attention to your surroundings to prevent child abuse

As a caring adult, you scope out potential dangers in the areas where a child may be for school, birthday parties, playdates, outings with friends, etc. Another danger to add to your list is the potential for a child to be lured away into a private area by a predator. Abuse can happen anywhere, even in the most public of places, and parents should be aware of any secluded spots that a predator might use. Avoid spaces where a predator could take action – turn on lights, check empty rooms, and patrol sleeping or playing spaces.
