CHURCH SURVEY DAY
Sunday 19th November is Church Survey Day. Following on from an all age service a few months ago, we are going to use 19th November as a special day for you to consider your gifts, interests and talents and how you can
use them to serve God at St. Paul’s. Survey forms will be available for you to fill in with your offers of service whether it be to help with refreshments, the Sunday School, cleaning, welcoming, gardening etc. The forms will be explained in more detail at each service, but please remember that any offers to help involve serious commitment and you are expected to be reliable, efficient and punctual when carrying out duties so please do not offer to do something that you cannot reliably carry out. For further information, please speak to Maureen Cottrell, Carina Brown or Christine Isles.

Please pray for the latest Rooted in Jesus Mission to Uganda.
Rooted in Jesus is a Trust dedicated to teaching Christian Discipleship in Africa, particular in rural Dioceses. During a four-day conference people from all over a Diocese
come together to be trained in how to use the material and lead a small weekly group in their neighbourhood. This often enable people with little or no literacy to learn the
scriptures in their own language and grow in faith and its practical out working. 30% of
the Diocese in sub- Saharan Africa have begun such groups. Some have not continued while others have
greatly added to the growth and vitality of the Diocese. Many people have been empowered and new leaders and many new initiatives have emerged as a result.
Mike, our Vicar is leading a team to the remote Dioceses of Karamoja and then Soroti both in north-eastern Uganda. The team will be Ben, recently ordained deacon; Lucy
working in hospital chaplaincy both from the UK, and Revd Capt James who is a R in J diocesan coordinator in his own Diocese in east of Uganda.
The UK members fly out on Sat 4th November to Entebbe, and wait for a Missionary Aviation flight (on a small plane) on the 6th. The first conference starts on Tuesday 7th
and ends on Friday, after a rest and preaching on Sunday, they travel on Monday by on road (175K) to the next Diocese to start again - 14-17th. Then rest and preach and
wait on Monday at a dirt airstrip locally for the flight back to Entebbe.
At the first conference in Karamoja, 100 delegates are expected, this is a follow-up
conference from the initial one last year. Many small groups have done very well and some completed two of the four books, others have had to stop or were interrupted due
to hunger and the need to farm. Soroti is a large diocese and they are talking of sending 250 delegates - which more than twice a comfortable and manageable size! This is an
introductory conference for R in J.
If you would like to receive regular prayer updates to support the mission please let
Mike know by emailing him [email protected] ‘Add to prayer list’. You will receive emails from Jennie Snow the R in J Intercessors Secretary. Rooted in Jesus
is one of the Mission Organisation we support as a Church. To find out more about it visit https://mathetestrust.org/
