This year, we are invited to “Chat With The Pope” to learn more about his missions. LITURGY AND WORSHIP ~ LITURGIA Y CULTO Joyce Lubofsky

[email protected] 281.333.3891 Ext. 333

PLAN AHEAD: Next Sunday, October 22nd, we will celebrate the RCIA Rite of Welcoming at the 9 AM Mass only.

The 5 PM Mass will NOT be celebrated on Sunday, October 29th, due to the Out of This World Festival.

The Solemnity of All Saints, a Holy Day of Obligation, will be celebrated with Masses in English on Tuesday, October 31, at 7 PM, and Wednesday, November 1, at 8:30 AM and 12:15 PM as well as in Spanish on Wednesday, November 1, at 7 PM.

The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Soul’s Day) will be celebrated on Thursday, November 2, with Mass at 8:30 AM in English and at 7 PM in English and Spanish.

There will NOT be a communal celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in November.

LITURGICAL WORDS OF THE WEEK: Incense is perfumed grains that are burned during special occasions. Incense symbolizes our prayers ascending to God, it is used as a blessing and it reminds us of the gifts of frankincense and myrrh given to the baby Jesus by the Magi.

The Censer is usually a metal container that holds hot coals. It has a top with air vents and a long chain so that it can be carried. It can also be in the form of a bowl.

An Incense Boat is the container that holds the unburned incense. Incense is scooped out of the incense boat and sprinkled on the hot coals in the censer. When the incense is burned, it makes smoke.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

Teams of Our Lady Info Night Teams of Our Lady is an international Catholic lay movement designed to make good marriages better while fostering couple spirituality and a richer family life. A team is made up of five to seven couples whose marriages are recognized by the Catholic Church. They meet monthly, rotating between couples’ houses, to share a meal, prayer, and discussion. The first step to joining is attending an information meeting. The next one is set for Sunday evening, November 5, from 6:30-7:30 PM, in the conference room at St. Paul. Contact Heidi Clark at [email protected] or 281.333.3891, ext. 328 for more information. Child care is $5/child and can be arranged if reservations are made by Tuesday, October 31.

Bible Study for Seniors It’s not too late to join the Great Adventure Bible Study for older adults; this DVD-based study being led by Director of Adult Ministry Heidi Clark, began last week but is done in such a way that it’s perfectly okay to just drop in at any time. The group meets Thursday afternoons from 12:30 to 2 PM. There’s no charge to join but if you’d like to purchase a set of the study materials, the cost is $35. Sessions will continue through April.

¿Cuál es GRAN IDEA? ¿CÓMO PODEMOS LLEGAR A

CONOCER Y AMAR A JESUCRISTO?

amar a Jesucristo?
