We, the family of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish serving McKeesport, Versailles, Elizabeth Township, and the surrounding communities welcome all. Through mergers, we have become an
ethnically diverse parish. We strive to nurture our seniors, to challenge and empower our youth to continue our faith tradition,
and for all to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. Strengthened by the liturgy and sacraments, we seek to educate in faith, minister to those in need, and extend hospitality to all, and contribute to the
spiritual and cultural life of our community.
St. Patrick Parish
Notes From Fr. Tom Thanks to those who responded to our state House of
Representatives concerning abortion of infants who may be
born with Downs Syndrome. The House strongly voted to
not allow such abortions. Continue to pray concerning this
and now contact our state senators, asking for their support
in passing this bill.

And thanks to those who helped in any way with our host-
ing the Fraternity of Priests and Healing Mass. The priests
present were very pleased with the response of those in at-
tendance. Healings have been reported to us.

All parishes of the diocese have been asked to sign up for
prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, to begin next
weekend and last all the way through October 15
when the implementation of On Mission takes
place. St. Patrick Parish is signed in on Saturday,
May 26, from Noon until 3:300PM. Mark your

A parishioner suggested that I speak about
the “Seven Deadly Sins,” or “Capital Sins”
since these are the foundation of all other
sins. They are pride, avarice (inordinate
seeking of goods), envy, wrath, lust, gluttony and sloth
(laziness). I mention these as I prayed during Masses last
weekend that these were not affecting the lives of parish-
ioners since so few were in attendance — our Mass Count
was down over 100 from our average. Pride can move us to
think that we can tell God how to act, and how we should be
allowed to act; avarice can include seeking happiness in all
the wrong places and not in God; gluttony may keep us
from waking up, and move us to laziness. We never want to
be found living with these as partners in life.

What we will learn when
On Mission For the Church Alive!
announcements are made in all Parishes
next weekend The decisions of years of work will be made known next weekend at all Masses in all parishes throughout the Diocese of Pittsburgh. These an-nouncements will include the following:
1. The final alignment of parishes — which cur-rent parishes will form new parishes (going from 180 to 56).
2. The assignments of all priests of the diocese — who will form the pastoral teams of each parish beginning October 15.
3. The time line of how long parishes will have to make decisions concerning which buildings will remain open — anywhere from one to five years depending on finances, etc.
4. Current parishes function as they are now until October 15 when the new pastoral teams begin their new assignment.
5. All information will be included in the Pittsburgh Catholic the next week which will be mailed to all Catholics.
What will not be decided at this time:
1. The closing of any buildings. ALL buildings will remain open for a year unless parishes have already been moving to close structures.
2. Future Mass schedule. The new Mass schedule will be decided by the new pastoral team using information gained from Mass Attendance counts, size of buildings, etc. Current Mass schedules will remain until October 15.
3. Parishes will maintain their autonomous identity until October 15. Then they will assume their new parish name.
What we do from now into the future:
1. Pray for openness to what God has planned for us and how we are called to see the Church in a new way.
2. Silence rumors. The truth will be heard from me at Mass and written in the bulletin, allowing you black-and-white information to properly share.

Fr. Bob Hilz, T.O.R. from Loretto, Pa.,
provided the teaching on the gifts of the Holy Spirit before Mass
began...and Fr. John Sweeney, pastor of St. Bonaventure parish,
led those present to seek the clues found in Scripture and in life
that are needed to see the gifts of the Spirit in their lives.

were present for
Mass and
prayers, for
themselves and
for others. One
spiritual healing
and one physical healing have been claimed already. Remember the
word concerning the healing of a back?
The ten
priests were
scattered in
the front and
rear of the
church be-
cause of
space limita-
tions along
the front.
One man
said when he
came for
prayers: “I already received my heal-
ing at the Eucharist.” He later said he
felt extreme heat going down his back
when prayed with — a sign often asso-
ciated with a healing. People from all
over Allegheny County and from Bea-
ver, Butler, Washington and West-
moreland counties were present for
this celebration of our faith.

COMMUNITY NEWS FROM The Intersection
CRITICAL NEEDS ALERT The Pittsburgh Foundation is organizing an online fundraising event on Tuesday, May 1 called “Critical Needs Alert” to raise money for organizations like the Intersection that address food insecurity. Last year we had great support through this event. We invite you to take part in the #FeedPGH Critical Needs Alert by going online to : pittsburghgives.org to donate on Tuesday, May 1, between 8:00am and 11:59pm.
ST. ANTHONY NOVENA The annual novena in honor of St. Anthony continues every Monday through June 11, 2018. There will be a Mass on the Feast Day of St. Anthony, Wednesday, June 13th, at 7:00 PM.
St. Patrick Ladies of Charity
The St. Patrick L.O.C. will meet on

Our Lady of Lourdes
and the
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine A one-day bus trip to the National Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine is being considered. However, before scheduling a bus, we want to make sure there is interest among parishioners and others. If interested, please call the rectory this week. Included in this pilgrimage would be time spent at this national shrine where St. Elizabeth Ann Seton lived, prayed and taught; where additional Marian shrines of Fatima, Guadalupe, and Chesto-jova, (to name a few) can be vis-ited; pray along the beautiful Stations of the Cross Walk or Rosary Walk. We’d have box lunches on “Mary’s Mountain” before moving to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine where we’d celebrate Mass, tour her original home and the White House where she died, learn of her life and ask for her intercession at her place of rest in a magnificent basilica. Finally, we would stop for dinner in Gettysburg en route home to St. Patrick’s. The cost of $45.00 includes the bus trip to and from Emmitsburg, Md. (comfortable coach) and a box lunch. Dinner in Gettysburg is the responsibility of each person. Family members and friends are welcome. We would be leaving St. Patrick’s at 6:00AM and re-turning at approximately at 10:30PM — a long day, but so very special. We are considering this trip in mid-May on a weekday.
