St Pancras Catholic Primary School Spring Term Newsletter - 22nd May 2020 In St Pancras, we are loving and kind, we pray and we play, we learn and explore through our faith everyday. . Hello from St. Pancras. Here at school we have been finding out about the 75th anniversary of VE Day. We learnt about the meaning of VE Day and watched a short BBC film explaining VE Day and the events leading to the end of WW2: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/history-ks2-ve-day/ z7xtmfr We found out about Churchill, 1945 playground/party games, war medals and the spitfire. We made Union Jack flags, bunting and cheese scones for our VE Day 75th anniversary party and danced to popular and catchy 1945 songs/music such as ‘We’re gonna hang out your washing on the Siegfried line’, ‘Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag’ and ‘The Lambeth Walk’. We listened to the iconic tune ‘We’ll meet again’, which was one of the most famous songs during the Second World War, as it resonated with soldiers who had to leave their families and fight for Britain. The song reminds us all that hope remains even in the most difficult times. The children started the week knowing very little about VE Day and the 75th anniversary; however by the end of the week they knew a great deal more! Our school… And just like that, we have reached another bank holiday! I really hope we are now getting that bit closer to seeing you all again and thank you for the emails with news and photos of what you are doing. We continue to think of you all and pray you continue to stay safe and well. Thank you for sending in your ‘Staying Active at Home’ photos and we would like to share some with you. All photos that have been sent in have been entered in to the competition run by the School Games Organiser (SGO). We found out at the end of last week that 4 of our chil-dren won prizes – Will F, Jessica Y, Tilly and Willow. Congratulations to the winners and please keep sending the photos in, as it is a weekly competition.
