Parish News Continued Dipping—celiac—intinction More and more often, people are suffering from Celiac dis-ease (allergic reaction to gluten in wheat products including bread). Some of our parishioners solve this problem by obtaining their own low gluten hosts and give them to the priest before mass in a pyx (container) to be given to them at Communion time. Others take Communion only from the Chalice in the form of the wine. When people dip the host into the chalice this compromises what the Celiac sufferers think will be a safe solution to their problem. We know that people have the choice of dipping or intinction but we are asking people not to do this—no dip-ping or intinction—in order to spare anyone who suffers from gluten contact. We don’t want to see a child or anyone suffer because of something we could easily remedy.
