CHAIRMAN’SMESSAGEThe Jardine Foundation provides excellent opportunities for outstanding young persons to benefit from the unique qualities of an Oxbridge education. The Scholarship Committee is delighted to note that over 380 Jardine Scholarships have now been awarded to extraordinary individuals from 11 countries.

Within the Oxbridge collegiate system, students of all disciplines benefit from the free exchange of ideas and experiences at their college, within a context of cultural and social diversity. The environment nurtured by the colleges provides students with the ideal backdrop to enhance their personal and intellectual growth.

As the Jardine Foundation Scholarship scheme grows, Jardine Scholars become part of an increasing network of high-achieving individualswith strong interpersonal bonds. This offers our Scholars many opportunities to share their experiences with their peers in academic and professional discussions, and assists in the development of a well-rounded personality with leadership qualities and a commitmentto society.

Our programme is thriving, with steady growth in its support for postgraduate as well as undergraduate students, and with an increasing profile of collaboration with Oxford and Cambridge Universities on co-funded programmes.

I expect to see the Jardine Scholars become senior members of their communities, as they come to play a leading role in their chosen professions.

The Jardine Foundation joins me in looking forward to our continuing work in supporting fine young individuals, and in helping them establish an exceptional foundation in life.

“OPENED MANY DOORS CAREER-WISE.”

My father is a lawyer and my mother, a psychologist; both are second-generation Singaporeans. I grew up in Singapore in the ‘80s and ‘90s, studying in local schools. I found out about the Jardine Scholarship when I was at my junior college. The principal said it was a scholarship worth considering for those interested in studying at Oxford and Cambridge. It is a generous, no-strings-attached scholarship and the effort that the Jardine Foundation makes to keep in touch with former scholars is admirable.

VIKRAM NAIR FROM: SINGAPORE COURSE OF STUDY: LAW

The Scholarship helped provided me with anexcellent education at Cambridge, which openedmany doors career-wise. Being a Jardine alumniis an honour and a privilege that I am grateful for.It is deeply humbling when I look back, that theJardine Foundation was kind enough to grant ascholarship to a young National Serviceman whohad to get special permission to take time off toattend the interviews.

OUTREACH PROGRAMMES.”

I come from a typical middle-class family in Hong Kong, and completed both primary and secondary schooling in Hong Kong before applying to university at the end of my A-levels. The opportunity offered by the Jardine Foundation to study at Cambridge University has shaped who I am today.

Not only did the programme provide financial support to study at a renowned university, the Foundation also offered mentorship by senior leaders from the Group and current Scholars and alumni from the programme. Additionally, the internship opportunities the Group offered

ELEANOR FUNGFROM: HONG KONG COURSE OF STUDY: NATURAL SCIENCES

during my time as an undergraduate allowed me to gain deeper insight into the company and operations across Asia Pacific.

Being a Jardine Scholar has been an honour. The support of the Foundation leadership and the friendships I have made through the alumni network have enriched my experience. It has also allowed me give back by supporting new members of the Foundation and in broader outreach programmes, including encouraging more women to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics at university.
