Spaghetti dinner—Note Change of date St. Michael’s is having a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, November 26 from 3 to 6 pm in the Parish Centre. The date has been changed so we don’t conflict with the annual supper at St. Andrew’s United. Menu includes Spaghetti & Meat Sauce; Variety of Cakes for Dessert; Tea/Coffee or Juice. Pro-ceeds go to Youth Activities. Adult $8—Child $5. The youth thank you for your support! We are calling on our bakers for cakes for dessert for this event. Diocesan News
The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in our diocese will close on the weekend of November 12/13. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to avail yourself of the special grace attached to the Jubilee of Mercy by going through the Holy Doors. The closing celebration of the Year of Mercy Mass will be held at St. Michael’s—Saturday, November 12 at 4:00 pm with Bishop Harris presiding.
RE: SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE MATTHEW (Haiti)
As we have done in the past for emergency relief, we have been asked to hold a special collection in support of our Haitan sisters and brothers who are once again affected by a major natural disaster in the after-math of hurricane Matthew. Development and Peace has already sent $50,000.00 to Caritas Haiti and is asking for immediate support. On the weekend of November 5/6, I ask that a special collection be taken up in our parishes/missions. Thank you for once again reaching out to our sisters and brothers in need. A reminder to enroll your deceased loved one in our memorial “Christ the king”, for the insert for Nov 20/16. Please mark an envelope “Christ the King” and the name of the deceased loved one to be remembered. You can put the envelope in the collec-tion or bring to the office no later than Nov 16. The donation is $5/name for this memorial.
2016-2017 Sunday missals are now available in the office for $5.00.
Baptisms for december 2016 will be held on Sunday, December 11 at noon instead of the last Sunday of the month, December 25.
Book of remembrance is located at the main entrance to the church. Please record names of your deceased loved ones to be remembered at each Mass during the month of November.
It is time to remove headstone saddles in the cemetery.
Parish pastoral council election The election for 4 Parish Pastoral Council Members will be held the weekend of November 19 & 20. The term of office for members is two years. Service on a Parish Council is a ministry. Councillors are called to use their gifts in planning and co-ordinating the life of the parish. Expectation is to attend the monthly meeting held on the third Thurs-day of the month at 6:30 pm. If you are interested or know someone who is, please fill out the nomination form and submit in the collection basket, to Father or to the office. Please have the consent of the per-son you are nominating. Nominations close on Sunday, November 6 at midnight.
