Devotions in 140 From Trinity Sunday:

The mystery of the Trinity enables us to see that our true worth and dignity is inherent,

not conditioned by any illusory external standard.

On Saturday, July 1, the 150th Anniversary of Confederation,

Canada will be consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In

Edmonton, Archbishop Smith will lead the consecration

celebration during the 5:00pm Mass at St. Joseph Basilica.

Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is a meaningful and consoling

practice and has been since the dawn of Christianity. Prayer to the

Mother of Jesus is a source of blessings and graces for those who

seek to deepen their faith, grow in love for Christ and the Church,

and walk in hope. Consecrating oneself to Our Lady has also rich theological and

spiritual significance, for the more we are devoted to Mary, the closer we will come

to Jesus and through him, to the Father in the Spirit.

The Prayer for Consecration of Canada and a QA Resource for

adults are available at both entrances.

Edmonton Retrouvaille The next weekend event in Edmonton

will be August 18-20. For more information call

South Sudan Famine Crisis It’s being called one of the

world’s largest humanitarian crises since the Second

World War. An estimated 20 million people are on the

brink of starvation. Canada’s faith leaders are making a joint appeal to respond to the famine in South Sudan and the

severe food crisis in Yemen, northeast Nigeria and Somalia. The crisis is exacerbated by armed conflicts and severe

droughts. All donations to the Famine Relief Fund before June 30 will be matched by the federal government.
