We are One Family of Faith in Jesus Christ. We are the merged faith community of St. Martin of

Tours, founded in 1906, and Our Lady of Lourdes, found in 1872, both located in

Bushwick, Brooklyn.

We are rooted in God’s word and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church; we value and cele-

brate our diversity, faith, hope and love in the Lord Jesus. It is our belief that the Holy Spirit

guides us through the different moments of our parish life, and that the Blessed Mother of God

assists us in this journey of faith. We are committed to help each other strengthen our faith, com-

munion and participation through God’s Word, Holy Eucharist and Evangelization. In this way

we answer the call to discipleship in our parish life. We seek to become more

inclusive and vibrant. We want to keep organizing ourselves in a way that all people feel

welcomed, accepted and encouraged to share their gifts and talents.

Father, I have against heaven and against you. The Passover celebration de-scribed in today's reading is the first in the Promised Land. Because they have now settled in Canaan, the people no longer need the manna (the "bread from heaven") God has been providing on their journey through the desert. Their new homeland will produce all the food they need. Paul enthusiastically describes how God has made all things new through Christ. He pictures each of us as an ambassador of peace sent by God to our own little corner of the world. To be effective ambassadors, we must first experience God's peace in our lives. One way we can do this is through the sacrament of Reconciliation, a sacrament of peace. Religious people often criticized Jesus for eating and associ-

ating with sinners. But these people did not realize that eve-

ryone needs God's mercy and love. In today's gospel story,

Jesus wants us to know what God's mercy is like. When any-

one sins and is sorry for that sin, God rushes out at top speed

to embrace that person. Even when we feel that we may be

undeserving of God's love, Jesus tells us that God rejoices

like the father in the gospel story.

Generaciones de Fe

NUESTRA META ES DE: $405,000 ‘Padre, he pecado contra el Cielo y contra ti’.

La celebración de la pascua descrita en la lectura de hoy es la primera en la tierra prometida. Ahora que estaban en Canaán ya no necesitaban del maná, pan del cielo, que Dios les había estado proveyendo duran-te el peregrinaje por el desierto. La nueva tierra produciría toda la comida necesaria. Pablo describe con entusiasmo como Dios ha hecho todas las cosas nuevas por medio de Jesucristo. El pinta a cada uno de nosotros como un embajador de paz enviado por Dios a nuestra pequeña esquina en el mundo. Para ser embajadores efectivos debemos primero experimentar la paz de Dios en nuestras vidas. Una forma en que podemos hacer eso es por medio del sacramento de la Reconciliación, un sacramento de paz. Jesús era criticado por comer y asociarse con pecadores. No se daban cuenta de que todos necesitamos la misericordia y el amor de Dios. En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús quiere que sepamos como es la misericordia de Dios. Cuando alguien peca y se ar-repiente de ese pecado, Dios corre a abrazarlo. Aun cuando pensemos que no merecemos el amor de Dios Jesús, nos dice que Dios se regocija al igual que el padre de la historia del evangelio.
