School NEWSLETER ◊ Number 5 ◊ 29th March, 2017
May the spirit of unity and love reign amongst us—Mary MacKillop 1884 How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity (Ps 133:1)
HAPPY HOLIDAY, HAPPY EASTER
SCHOOL FINISHES AT 2PM ON FRIDAY, 31st MARCH
EASTER LITURGY — You are invited to join us for the Easter Parliturgy at 11:30am in the gym on Friday 31st March. Parents are welcome to sign their children out after the raffle draw.
EASTER RAFFLE: We do understand that our request for donations of Easter items and sending home raffle tickets to sell comes so soon after the fete however, this is an annual P & F school based fundraiser. Please do not feel obliged to donate if you do not feel that you can and we appreciate all items that have been donated to date. The Easter Raffle will be drawn at the conclusion of the liturgy on Friday. Please return your tickets to school sold or unsold by the end of the school day on Thursday 30th March. Once again we thank you for your support.
STUDENT SUPPORT: Our school counsellor Zeb Br ier ly works with students at our school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Zeb has 4 sessions available for private counselling with students and or parents at a cost of $60 per child for a 40 minute session during the school day. Contact Zeb directly on 0413 705 246. CONFIRMATION: Confirmation Family Workshop - Thursday, 27th April, 7:00pm in the Conference Room at school. Retreat – Monday, 22nd May. Confirmation Mass will be on Saturday, 3rd June at 7:00 pm at St Laurence’s, Leongatha. Bishop Patrick will be conferring the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is an expectation that each candidate attend the workshop with a family member or family friend. If you are unable to attend this important workshop, please call Father Aju on 56622020.
SEASONS FOR GROWTH: The Program is designed to help guide students through a gr ieving process and assist those students who are finding it difficult to deal with the loss of someone, whether it be a parental separation, loss of another family member, loss of a house or any other significant loss. It is not a counselling session and we don't recommend anyone attending the group until they have had at least 6 months or more time after the loss. 'Seasons for Growth' groups will run for 45mins during class time on a Tuesday, starting next term. Sessions will be held in the conference room and there will be two groups (separate times) with each group run by either Christy Roberts or Bridget O'Keefe. Only those families selected need to attend the information session. WINTER UNIFORM: It is expected that by the third week of term 2 all students should be in full winter unifor m.
SCHOOL CLOSURE CORRECTION: Wednesday, 26th April is a school day not a school closure day as previously stated. Sorry
for any inconvenience.

HOUSE ATHLETICS
Last Friday, 24th March saw our house athletics conducted at
Mary MacKillop College. St Joseph’s and Chairo also participated
in the combined carnival.
Spirited competition and favourable weather conditions gave
students every opportunity to perform well. Three records were
broken on the day.
We had a fantastic parent response with helping on the day and
many parents come along to support their children. Many thanks—
we certainly needed your help and it was greatly appreciated.
Also a big thank you to those MacKillop students who helped.
They showed good initiative and great support throughout the day.

REMINDER REGARDING BUS PASSES The bus network is for students to get into and home from school from outlying areas. It is not a public bus service. We have direction from the bus co-ordinator that passes ARE NOT to be issued for such things as sporting activities, music lessons, parties, sleepovers. It is a requirement that should you need a pass in an emergency ONLY, ideally 48hrs is required. Asking for passes outside of this criteria puts pressure on the office staff when requests are rejected.

See in store or contact the office for more information. As the program is solely reliant on the number of active tags to generate the funds, the question is, how many supporting families do we have? In other words if the majority of our school community families are not using the program, we are missing a great opportunity.

EPiPEN© RECALL INFORMATION
EpiPen® 300 microgram (µg) Adrenaline Injection Syringe Auto-Injector
Batches 5FA665, 5FA6651, 5FA6652, 5FA6653
Alphapharm Pty Ltd, following consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration, is recalling the following batches of
EpiPen® 300 microgram (µg) Adrenaline Injection Syringe Auto-Injectors due to the potential that these devices may contain a
defective part that may result in the device failing to activate or requiring increased force to activate.
Two reports world-wide have been confirmed of the device failing to activate in a batch of about 80,000 devices.
EpiPen® Auto-Injector is used for the treatment of allergic emergencies (anaphylaxis). The failure of the auto-injector to acti-
vate may result in patients not receiving the required dose of adrenaline resulting in the worsening of symptoms of anaphy-
laxis or anaphylactic reactions, which could be life threatening.
The recalled product was manufactured by Meridian Medical Technologies in St. Louis Missouri, USA.
Alphapharm is undertaking this recall as a precautionary measure and has patient safety as its first priority.
Instructions to consumers who have an EpiPen® Auto-Injector:
1. Check if you have a 300 µg EpiPen® (yellow carton and label) and if you do, check the batch number and expiry. The
batch number and expiry can be found on the label of the pen or on the end of the carton.
2. If your EpiPen® 300µg has the following batch numbers 5FA665, 5FA6651, 5FA6652 or 5FA6653 and an expiry of Apr
17, you need to replace it with a new one as soon as possible by returning to your pharmacist.
3. Your pharmacist will replace the EpiPen® 300µg from the affected batch with an EpiPen® 300µg from a different batch
FREE OF CHARGE.
4. You must keep your current EpiPen® until you get a replacement and use it if required.
At this time, EpiPen® Jr 150µg Adrenaline Injection Syringe Auto-Injectors and all other batches of EpiPen® 300µg Adrenaline
Injection Syringe Auto-Injectors are unaffected and are not subject to this recall.
