Thomas said to him “Master, we do not know where

you are going; how can we know the way?” John 14:5

In the early twentieth century, countless families

migrated from Europe and other counties to the United

States. Many fathers would come here first, leaving

their wives and children behind in the old country. Then

they would find a job and prepare a new home for their

family. Some fathers would return for them, but others

would send money to their family members so that they

could make the voyage on their own. It was their way of

making the journey to a new land. In a simiar way,

Jesus told the apostles and the others of his faith family

that he would go away and prepare a place for them so

they could make their journey to a new life, in a new

world. In our future, we cannot find our new home in

heaven with a road map, a navaigation chart or a flight

plan. We find the way only through Jesus. He has gone

before us, and he is the way to our eternal home.

Spiritually Nourishing Our Widows & Widowers St. Joseph is forming a new ministry to widows & widowers, Spiritually Nourishing Our Widows & Widowers—SNOWW. Our

purpose is to meet the spiritual needs of those of the Catholic faith who have lost a spouse to death. Our hope is that this ministry

will help men and women to find new meaning in life as widow/widower, to grow in their relationship with God, to develop a

strong system of support, and to provide opportunities for spiritual service if desired.

Please join us on May 20th 1:00 pm—3:00 pm in the Parish Hall. For more information contact Kim Hovious 348-3126 or

Lee Heaton 460-0154.

St. Vincent De Paul's Bread For Life Food Pantry is partnering with Guthrie Opportunity Center (GOC) to

deliver meals to low income homebound/handicapped In Nelson County.

There will be 60 meals being made by GOC daily beginning in May, and we are looking for volunteers to help deliver

meals, anytime between the hours of 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays (Clients will receive 5 meals/

week, but deliveries will be made 3 days/week). The clients were selected from the food pantry's clientele, as well as MOMS

MEALS waiting list. If you know of someone who truly needs this service, please let us know.

Anita Westrup, the receptionist at the Food Pantry, is the volunteer coordinator. Please call her at 348-7270 to

volunteer or to answer any questions.

Because volunteers will be going into homes and visiting with the recipients, a background check form will need to be

filled out and turned in to Anita at the pantry. If you would like to request a form electronically, her email is

[email protected].

Thank you in advance for helping those less fortunate to receive a good nutritious meal at home. This program is

generously funded by the Sunflower Foundation, who's goal is to alleviate hunger in Nelson County!
