St. Joseph Church ~ Bardstown KY September 24, 2017
Stewardship thru 9-17-17 $177,329
“So when the first came they thought they would receive more,
but each of them also got the usual wage. And on receiving it
they grumbled against the landowner…. ‘My friend, ‘he said, ‘I
am doing you no wrong…. Are you envious because I am
generous?” Matthew 20:9-15
As God’s servants, the gifts we receive from God are not a result of
the work we do, but a result of God’s generosity. Our stewardship
should mirror the generosity of the estate owner. Stewards give
without questioning what we will get in return.
Have you remembered St. Joseph Church in your will?

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your
ways my ways, says the LORD. Isaiah 55:8
As a word person, I have always loved word games, especially
Scrabble. I was recently introduced to another game that is
similar but different.
I wasn’t too good at it until I realized what was holding me
back. In Scrabble, what you build has to remain the way that
you originally set it. But that is not so in this game. If you need
to, you can tear everything up and start from scratch. I still
forget that at times, and it is so freeing to realize, “I don’t have
to stay with this. I can start completely over.”
I can get set in my ways, habits and even sins. What a freeing
moment it is to realize that it doesn’t have to be this way. I can
start over. I will have to do some rearranging, but what a relief
it is to lift my heart up to God as I begin again in his ways,
letting go of the limits of my own.
Lord, may my thoguht align with your more every day

Marriage Moment
Ways to turn your spouse off #1– be too busy. Romance can’t always fit neatly into a schedule. Do you have enough
open, flexible time in your married life to flirt, follow a whim, or postpone a less urgent priority?
Parenting Pointer
Respect Life Month. As a parent, I assume you speak respectfully to your children and they to you. Respecting life also
means valuing all human life– especially the lives of the weak, the vulnerable, the unborn, the poor, even those we
disagree with. With political speech becoming less civil, let your children hear you speak respectfully even of those you
disagree with.

St Joseph School 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students visited the Abbey of Gethsemani on September 20th for a prayer retreat. Students also formed an honor guard for our retired
Cafeteria Manager, Sue Ann Rogers, during her funeral procession into Church. The experiences of the St. Joseph school children connect them to the ministry of our parish in very good ways.
Blessings, Fr. Terry
Handy Hands Quotes and Comments
Mrs. -----You know, I love the work you all do when you come to my home each year, but what I love most is the laughter! As I sit in this chair, day after day, I miss the laughter. That’s the best gift! Mrs.---- said, “Oh my goodness, you got me new cushions and look at the flowers!” Our resident kept thanking us and wished he could repay us in some way. He told us how much he appreciated us coming. He told us that he loved each and every one of us! He is in a wheelchair and suffers a lot of pain and his wife takes care of him. He was in tears from our visit and had all of us in tears as well. He makes rosaries and gave each of us one. He was the sweetest man I have ever met. Please everyone, pray for him. A resident asked one of the teens to sing “Jesus Loves Me” to her. As the girl started singing, the resident sang with her. It was a beautiful moment. “It was neat to hear that I have similar favorite movies and music as Mrs. ----. It doesn’t matter your age, you can still have things in common.” One of the resident’s advice to the youth: “travel and enjoy life and laughter”. “We just can’t thank you enough…you all are the greatest!” Mr. ---- was not able to come out of his home while we worked but it felt so good to help out his family who takes care of him. I could really see how
much it meant to them and how it took a little worry away from them.
