Such people say: “Hosanna in the highest,” meaning: “I implore, Lord; let your salvation be in the highest.” But behold: although there is one God, it says “in the highest,” plural. The reason is that he willed to distinguish the distinctions of the Persons, so that we might consider which things are attributed to the Persons. Thus Hilary says that “eternity is attributed to the Father; appearance,” or beauty, “to the Image; and use,” or delight, “to the Gift.” To the Father, who is the beginning, eternity is attributed; to the Son, who is called “Image” (cf. Col 1:15), beauty is attributed; to the Holy Spirit, who is the Gift, use or enjoyment is attributed. Hence our salvation consists in the stability of eternity, in the beauty of the light, and in the enjoyment of delight. First, I say that our salvation consists in the stability of eternity. A ship is saved when it is on its way to a stable harbor (cf. Ps 107:30); in the same way a human being is not saved during his life on earth (in via), but in the heavenly homeland (in patria). Hence Is 45:17 says: Israel is saved in the Lord through an eternal

salvation. Errors perish and cease to be when people get to know the truth. Second, it consists in the beauty of the divine light. People in this world are in a certain way saved, as the Psalmist says: Show us your face, and we will be saved (Ps 80:4, 8, 20). Yet then they will be saved in a perfect way, as the Psalmist indicates, at the sight of the face in which every good finds its existence, according to the saying in Ex 33:19: I will show you every good. Third, [our salvation consists] in the enjoyment of the divine delight, as the Psalmist says: Your houses will be drenched with abundance (Ps 36:9a). A man who is drunk is beside himself; in the same way the saints in the heavenly homeland (in patria) will be; and from the stream of your pleasure you will give them drink (Ps 36:9b), namely, when they will say: My heart has exulted in being saved (1 Sm 2:1, Lk 1:47).

Santiago’s Prayer Kneeler will arrive on Monday, June 1st and will be in the Church through Sunday, June 7th! How fortunate that Friday, June 5th will be a First Friday with Eucharistic Adoration all day. What a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to offer a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration for Santiago and all our priests and seminarians! A Prayer Intention Book for Santiago is on the back table in the vestibule and will remain with us up to his ordination week (the last week of June). Please take a moment to offer your thoughts, wishes, Holy Hours and prayers for Santiago in the coming weeks. We thank all of you who have and will offer prayers for Deacons Santiago and Casey Coleman, for the sanctification of our priests and for an increase in vocations. Prayer cards (tan with image of crucifix) are available on the table in the vestibule—feel free to take with you and continue to offer prayers for Deacons Santiago and Casey. We thank Mary’s Sons for this blessed opportunity and the graces that will undoubtedly flow from our prayers. Mary’s Sons is an apostolate established by lay Catholics in our diocese. Their mission is to promote prayer, support and love for our priests through daily prayer, sacrifices, and by supporting monthly Eucharistic Adoration and Holy Hours in our parishes for an increase in vocations and for the sanctification of our priests.

FAITH FORMATION————————————YOUTH GROUP ————————————

ATTENTION ALL FAITH FORMATION FAMILIES & CATECHISTS

The Faith Formation Year has come to a close. I thank the parents, the primary catechists of their children, for their support of the FF program. I extend a big “Thank you” to our catechists who shared their love of the Church and Catholic faith by teaching the FF classes each week. Kudos to our awesome teens and grandmothers who served as “assistants” in three of the classes. And a special note of thanks to our wonderful substitute catechists who filled in, often at a moment’s notice. On behalf of the students and families, I offer our deep appreciation to Fr. Arnsparger and Deacon Kingsley for their spiritual guidance, for our weekly Church visits for Adoration and Benediction, as well as Father’s visits to the classrooms. Faith Formation classes will resume in September, 2015. Registration will be in August.

REFLECTION FOR YOUR SUMMER PRAYER LIFE…

“In this trying time that our country is going through we Catholics and especially we students, have a serious duty to fulfill: our self-formation. [...] We, who by the grace of God are Catholics... must steel ourselves for the battle we shall certainly have to fight to fulfill our program and give our country, in the not too distant future, happier days and a morally healthy society, but to achieve this we need constant prayer to obtain from God that grace without which all our efforts are useless;

…and finally, the sacrifice of our passion and of ourselves, because without that we cannot achieve our aim.”

— Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassiti

A N N O U N C E M E N T SWORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 2015 —————Love Is Our Mission, The Family Fully Alive

• September 22-27, 2015!

• Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

• Families and individuals, called together from all over the world in faithful

celebration of the family—the sanctity of love and life

• Love is Our Mission Preparatory Catechesis

• Website: WorldMeeting2015.org

• Families can look forward to seeing and hearing Pope Francis, guest speakers, celebrations, kids’ activities, and prayer, all of which will bring renewal and

transformation for you, your loved ones and the world.

May 2015—Light in a dark worldThe Church is obliged to resist the spread of false rationales for marriage. Pope Francis has observed:“Again and again, the Church has acted as a mediator in finding solutions to problems affecting peace, social harmony, the land, the defense of life, human and civil rights and so forth. And how much good has been done by Catholic schools and universities around the world! This is a good thing. Yet, we find it difficult to make people see that when we raise other questions less palatable to public opinion, we are doing so out of fidelity to precisely the same convictions about human dignity and the common good.
