Faith in Action

This week an elderly woman waited very patiently for assistance with her electric bill. We were delayed because of another client in crisis, but she assured us that she was grateful any time we could give her. She explained that she was raising her 17 and 18-year-old grandchildren for many years. Just a few months ago, another daughter went to prison and our client received custody of two more very young grandchildren. She struggles to pay her bills on her social security. When we asked her if she needed help for gifts for the children, she humbly replied that any gift would be appreciated and she was reluctant to ask for any specific gift. Christmas for this family will be more joyful because of the generosity of our parishioners.

Angel Tree

We have delivered the gifts to the nursing home for the residents who will not be receiving gifts from friends or family. We will distribute gifts this week to the families who have asked for help for their children. Thanks to all the parishioners who have participated in our Angel Tree program this year. The gratitude from the recipients reminds us of our many blessings, including an opportunity to be generous to our disadvantaged brothers and sisters.

Food Pantry

Our shelves are getting bare again. We are very low on some items, especially:

Dish Detergent Canned Peas Tomato ProductsCanned Meat or Tuna Shampoo Bread Mix

Soap

We have more than 50 children, teens, and adults preparing to celebrate sacraments through the RCIA process. Some of these individuals participate in the Dismissal at the 9:00 a.m. Mass and some at the 1:00 p.m. Mass. We pray that they may hear God’s Word in their lives.

Baby World

We are grateful for the many donations of gently used children’s clothing. At this time we are short on toddler size 4, 5 and 6 clothing and would appreciate your donations. We are also short on toiletries like baby shampoo, lotion and baby wash. Many thanks to the parishioners who support Baby World ministry!

A Biblical Walk Through the Mass

Join us on Wednesday evenings starting January 8, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. for a five-week study of the Mass. A Biblical Walk Through the Mass takes participants on an exciting tour of the Liturgy as it explores the biblical roots of the words and gestures we experience at Mass and explains their profound significance. Learn why we say what we say and do what we do every week at Mass. The words and gestures will be seen in a new light, giving new life to the liturgical experience.

Contact Adam Cordiviola at [email protected] for more information.

Collection for Retired Religious

Support aging religious. Our second collection is for the Retirement Fund for Religious. Many senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests served for little or no pay. Today, religious communities often do not have enough savings to meet retirement needs. Your gift helps provide medications, nursing care, and more for tens of thousands of elderly religious. It also helps ensure younger members can continue the good works of their elders. Please be generous.

Sean generosos.

Stewardship ReflectionThird Sunday of Advent

You too must be patient. Make you hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at

hand.James 5:8

Patience is another one of those things many of us struggle with. We want things to go according to our plan and our schedule. Any change brings anxiety and fear. Through daily prayer we better align ourselves with God’s will and His plan, which is far better than anything we can come up with on our own.
