3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
“He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father and followed Him.” (Matthew 4:22)
Just as Jesus called the first apostles, He calls each of us to
follow Him, too. Not everyone is called to leave their business
or family behind, but we are expected to put God first in eve-
rything. Everything from our time in daily prayer, our talent
in participating in one of our parish ministries, and our treas-
ure to support the financial needs of our parish mission.
The Altar Flowers were donated
by Mr. Ralph Gaspard
In Loving Memory of
Mrs. Linda Gaspard
Homeless Ministry
The Homeless Ministry is still accepting the following
items to assist the homeless: Throw Blankets | Knit
Gloves | Knit Hats | Travel Toothpaste, Mouthwash |
Deodorant | Waterless Shampoo | Hand Sanitizer and
Disposable Wipes. Please place all donations in the
boxes under the table by the Baptismal Pool.
New Altar Servers Needed
We are looking for new altar servers to join our ministry.
Altar Servers perform a very important role during the
liturgy. The role includes assisting the Celebrant so that
Mass is conducted with grace and reverence. We are
looking for young men and women to be a part of this
special ministry.
Benefits: Increase personal relationship with the Lord;
earn more about the Order of Mass and the teachings of
the Catholic Church; Provide service for the parish;
Serve as a role model for others and Grow in responsibil-
ity and teamwork.
Requirements: Must be Catholic, have been Baptized
and have received First Holy Communion, must attend
all training sessions and be a registered parishioner of St.
Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Community.
If your child is interested in joining the ministry, please
see Mrs. Janice Collins or call the Parish Office.
One Thing To Do For The Environment:
Save Plastic Lids From All Your Containers
Did You Know?
Plastic lids from all the plastic containers are not able to
ne recycled in the same way plastic bottles and contain-
ers are recycled.
They end up in a landfill.
The Sisters of Notre Dame are collecting Just Plastic
Lids to be made into park benches and more. Check the
website www.greentreeplastics.com for more infor-
mation. Containers for your plastic lids are under the ta-
bles at the entrances of the church.
We are running the
“Preserving Our Lega-
cy Campaign” for a
limited time. Your
name or the name of a
loved one will be deep-
ly engraved into a brick
and permanently be dis-
played as pavers around
our Parish Sign. The
bricks are $110.00 each and measure 4”x8”. Any symbol
is considered one space (period, comma or dash) 21 char-
acters per line, 18 recommended. Brick Forms are availa-
ble in the back of church. Return all forms to the Parish
Office.
Second Collection
The second collection this weekend
is for the Archdiocesan Catholic
Schools. This collection supports the
Champions of Catholic Education
Fund, which is dedicated to helping
more families afford the cost of Catholic education. Please
be as generous as possible in your giving.
If you are in need of a statement of
your 2019 contributions to St. Gabriel
Church for tax purposes, submit your
request to the Parish Office using the
form at the entrances to the church.
Please fill-out the form completely and
drop it in the collection basket or bring
it to the Parish Office.
In your prayers, please pray for
the Repose of the Soul of…
Mr. Allen Fernandez, he was bur-
ied from our parish on Friday,
January 24, 2020.
Mr. Anthony Jackson, who will be buried from our Par-
ish on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11:00am.
May their souls rest in the peace of Christ forever.
The CYO/PSR Annual Black History Month Portrayals
For Black History Month 2020, we will honor the lives of
our very own St. Gabriel elders, who have been trailblazers
in their own right. Each Sunday in the month of February,
one elder will be recognized during the 10:30am mass. Pre-
pare to be enlightened and moved.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Day 2020 was a day ON and
NOT OFF for St. Gabriel's CYO. Several members helped
to beautify the Lafitte Greenway, along with over 100 volun-
teers from around the city. Thanks to Miguel, Kayla, and
Bryan for representing St. Gabriel and making the city of
New Orleans cleaner place.
