Entrance Antiphon My eyes are always on the Lord, for he rescues my feet from the snare. Turn to me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and poor.

First Reading Book of Exodus (20:1-3, 7-8, 12-17) God spoke all these words. He said, ‘I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.’ ‘You shall have no gods except me. ‘You shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or earth beneath or in the waters under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I, the Lord your God am a jealous God and I punish the father’s fault in the sons, the grandsons, and the great-grandsons of those who hate me; but I show kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. You shall not utter the name of the Lord your God to misuse it, for the Lord will not leave unpunished the man who utters his name to misuse it. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. For six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath for the Lord your God. You shall do no work on that day, neither you nor your animals nor the stranger who lives with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that these hold, but on the seventh day he rested; that is why the Lord has blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour. You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or his servant, man or woman, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is his.’

Pastoral Corner

In this Week’s Gospel, the cleansing of the temple, which Jesus recognises as God’s house, was a chal-lenge to the religious leaders and political system of Jesus’ day. It was one of the key reasons for his death on the Cross.

Jesus made it clear that he was replacing temple worship. From now on, the Centre of God’s presence among the people would be his risen body. The body of the risen Lord would include all those who be-lieve in him and accept his spirit. Together they would become the temple of God on earth.

Lenten Reflection on the EASTER TRIDUUM The Sacred Paschal Tridu-um or Easter Triduum of the Passion and Resurrection of the Lord is the culmination of the Liturgical Year. It begins with the Thursday evening of the Lord's Supper, through the Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord, culminating in the Easter Vigil of the Holy Night and closes with Vespers on Sunday of the Resurrection. This short 3-session pro-gram will take you briefly through the Paschal Mystery by recounting, through the Passion and Resurrection Narratives in the Gospels (of Jn and Mk), of the last three days of Jesus’ life on earth. It is offered as a Lenten Reflection as we approach Easter with the focus that the Triduum though chronologically three days, is liturgically one, thus un-folding for us the unity of Christ’s Paschal Mystery. FREE. 3 Wednes-days, 21 Feb – 7 Mar 2018, 7 – 9pm, St Emilie Meeting Hall. Registra-tion: Helen Ng [email protected] Mob: 0438926463.

Corpus Christi College: will be hosting open days on Wednesday, 14 March and Monday, 26 March 2018. We would like to invite pro-spective families to join us by registering your attendance at www.corpus.wa.edu.au/opendays. Church Workers Safeguarding Training: The Catholic Archdiocese of Perth’s Safeguarding Program is child focused and is committed to the principle that children have an absolute right to physical, spiritual and psychological safety at all times and that the Church as a Christian in-stitution should now, and into the future, be in the forefront of efforts to make this a reality. The Safeguarding Program has been included as a key element of the Archbishop’s Archdiocesan Plan. The Archdio-cese is offering this training session at three venues namely, the Ca-thedral, in Mt Hawthorn and Applecross in March, June and October respectively. However, for the convenience of our Parish volunteers, a special training program will be conducted by Andrea Musulin, Direc-tor Safeguarding, Archdiocese of Perth for all those involved in church work on Thursday, 15 March 2018 from 6:30 - 8:00PM at the Sacred Heart Parish Thornlie in the Foley Centre. As a volunteer/church worker within the Archdiocese, it is paramount that you are familiar with the Safeguarding Program and how it impacts on your role in the Parish. Please contact Amanda Pereira, MOB: 042 339 6822 or Terry Ryan, MOB: 0427 429 278 or register your name on the list provided in the foyer. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided.
