Job Position Our Lady of Guadalupe School, Fremont, and St. Edward School, Newark are looking for a K-8 Music Teacher. This is a job share position or a part-time, single school position. The person would need to be able to teach Kindergarteners through eighth graders skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music. Our Lady of Guadalupe School, Fremont, is looking for a Band & Strings Director. They have a small band class and small strings class that are run on Wednesdays from 2-5 pm. The person would need to be able to teach 3rd through 8th graders - string orchestra (violin, cello) and band (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone horn). Sister Mary Mark’s last day of work was last Friday but she will continue as a parishioner and will be involved in different ministries. Please join us to thank her for 14 years of service to our parish and the community. We are going to miss her in the rectory. She was a great help and support for us in many ways. DEPARTMENT OF FAITH FORMATION We will begin accepting registrations for the 2017-2018 school-year on Monday, August 21, 2017, for Grades 1 through 8, Conf. 2, and those prospective Confirmation 1 students who have already successfully completed the assessment. The registration schedule is as follows:

Mon., Aug. 21, to Thur., Aug. 24 …11:00am-6:00pm Sat., Aug. 26 ……………………… 9:00am-12:00noon Mon., Aug. 28, to Thur., Aug. 31 …..11:00am-6:00pm

If you are a returning family and have not turned in required documents – i.e., birth and/or baptismal certificates – you will not be able to enroll your child unless these forms are brought in at the time of registration. If the children are new to the St. Edward Faith Formation Program, please bring their birth and Baptismal certificates. If you do not have these documents, you will not be able to complete the registration process. Phone registrations will not be accepted. Tuition payments are due at the time of registration. Last day for registrations is Thursday, August 31, 2017. If you have any questions, please call 510-797-5588.

CONFIRMATION PROGRAM Confirmation 1 Registration Are you 15 years old or in the ninth grade and interested in joining the two-year Confirmation program? If so, the Saint Edward Faith Formation Office will hold interviews from Monday, August 21, through Thursday, August 31. Prospective first-year candidates must be accompanied by a parent to the interview. The last day for interviews is Thursday, August 31, 2017. Please note: First-year Confirmation interviews are by appointment only and there will be no late acceptances of candidates. Please call the Faith Formation office beginning Monday, August 7, 2017, at 510-797-5588 to schedule your appointment. (If you successfully completed the assessment at the end of the 2016-2017 school year, you do not need to make an appointment to register.) In addition, there is a mandatory gathering, Rite of Covenant, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 7:00pm, for all first-year candidates who have successfully completed the Confirmation interview/registration process. This will formally mark the candidates’ entry into the Confirmation program. A parent must accompany their candidate to this event.

Confirmation 2 Registration Beginning Monday, August 21, we will be accepting registrations for all eligible second-year Confirmation candidates for the 2017-2018 school-year. You must register by no later than Thursday, August 31, 2017. Late registrations will not be accepted. If you are still missing required forms – i.e., Baptismal and Communion certificates, Sponsor forms – you will not be allowed to register. Please bring any missing documents at the time of registration. On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 7:00pm, second-year candidates and their parents must attend Conf. 2 Evening of Recollection, which marks the beginning of the second year of Confirmation preparation.
