The Gathering PlaceThe Gathering Place is a stimulating, loving and fun environment where volun-teers offer interactive and affirming activities designed for members of the con-gregation and community who suffer with memory loss.
We are a partnership between St. Cecilia and Interfaith CarePartners® and are one of 58 participating congregations that offer 3 1/2 hours of respite from the challenges of caring for a loved one with dementia while they enjoy games, crafts, entertainment lunch and other fun activities.
The Gathering Place is celebrating another milestone. July 2017 marks the 12 year anniversary since we first started the Alzheimer's Care Team® Gathering Place at St. Cecilia's.
Although the real meaning of the team's service lies in the relationships of care and compassion for the care partners they have served, we at Interfaith CarePart-ners® would like to recognize the scope of your parishioners' commitment to serving your congregation and the community. The number of people served and the hours of care donated are only one expression of their dedication. We believe that you and the congregation will applaud their efforts and join us in celebrating their accomplishments.
Number of care partners and their caregivers who received support: 197Number of hours of care the team donated since originally formed in: 2005 20,615+
I am bringing these remarkable accomplishments to your attention with the hope that it may be possible for your congregation to take advantage of the team's anniversary to affirm this ministry undertaken on behalf of the congregation and the community.
We greatly appreciate the privilege to share this ministry to families with memory loss. The love, commitment, and compassion of each volunteer are testaments to their faith and answer the call to care for our brothers and sisters in need of our support.
To volunteer, call Lorrie Dawlearn at 713-783-7903.
To register a loved one to attend this free program, please contact Tom Breaux at (713) 682-5995 ext. 210.
If you are interested in making St. Cecilia your parish home, we welcome you and invite you to stop by Room 204 of the Community Center after the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Masses. All are welcome!
Our next Welcoming Sunday is August 19th.
Meet Fr. Francis, members of the Pastoral Staff, Pasto-ral Council and some of the ministry groups to learn more about our wonderful parish. Registration forms and stewardship materials will be available.

This summer, consider Spiritual Direction and ex-plore how God is working in your life. Change is constant. Sometimes it is exciting and sometimes painful. How do we respond faithfully to life’s re-alities? Deepen your relationship with the divine, learn, and grow in your own personal spirituality. In Spiritual Direction, you meet one on one with a Spiritual Director and focus on where is God in your reality. We have Spiritual Direction available in both English and Spanish.
