FOOLISHNESS

Sometimes the idea of repentance seems old-fashioned, naïve, even foolish. But if you ’ re looking

for real foolishness, you’ l l find it in today ’ s readings.

We begin with Leviticus and the admonition, “ T ake no revenge and cherish no grudge ” ( Leviticus

19:18 ) . We ’ ve heard that message before, of course, so we might forget how far it is from the so-called

“ p ractical realities of life. ” Saint Paul warns us about being practical, though. Whoever considers oneself

wise had better “ become a fool, ” because “ t he wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God ”

( 1 Corinthians 3:18, 19) .

This “ foolishness ” continues in the Gospel: “ Offer no resistance to one who is evil ” ( Matthew

5:39 ) . In fact, offer the other cheek when you ’ ve been slapped. Hand over your coat as well as your shirt.

Be like God, who sends sunshine and rain on the bad as well as the good. “ So be perfect, ” says Jesus,

“ j ust as your heavenly Father is perfect ” ( 5:48 ) .

Reflections from Fr. Emil... THE NAME, TITLES AND SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Holy Spirit is the proper name of the one whom we adore and glorify with the Father and the Son. The Church has received this

name from the Lord and professes it in the Baptism of her new children.

When he proclaims and promises the coming of the Holy Spirit Jesus calls him the Paraclete, literally, he who is called to one's

side, advocatus. Paraclete is commonly translated by consoler, and Jesus is the first consoler. The Lord also called the Holy Spirit

the Spirit of truth,

Besides the proper name of Holy Spirit, which is most frequently used in the Act of the Apostles and in the Epistles, we also find in

St. Paul the titles; the Spirit of the promise, the Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of the Lord, and the Spirit of God.

And in St. Peter, the Spirit of glory.

Fr. Emil

IMIĘ, OKREŚLENIA I SYMBOLE DUCHA ŚWIETEGO Duch Święty jest imieniem własnym Tego, którego wielbimy i któremu oddajemy chwałę wraz z Ojcem i Synem. Kościół otrzymał

Go od Pana i wyznaje Go w czasie chrztu swoich dzieci.

Sam Pan nazywa Ducha

Świętego, Duchem Prawdy.

Poza imieniem własnym, które jest najczęściej używane w Dziejach Apostolskich i Listach, u św. Pawła znajdują się określenia;

Duch obietnicy, Duch przybrania za synów, Duch Chrystusa, Duch Pana, Duch Boży. U św. Piotra znajduje się okreslenie Duch

chwały.

Ks. Emil

CHURCH HUMOR

A little boy was attending his first wedding.

After the service, his cousin asked him, "How

many women can a man marry?"

"Sixteen," the boy responded.

His cousin was amazed that he had an an-

swer so quickly. "How do you know

that?""Easy," the little boy said. "All you have

to do is add it up, like the priest said: 4 better,

4 worse, 4 richer, 4 poorer."

SCHOOL NEWS…. From the desk of the Principal

During this past week, our 8th grade students began to receive their High School admissions letters. Some will be going to De La Salle, others to Selective Enrollment public schools. Please keep them in your prayers as these very important letters continue to arrive. On Monday, not only did we celebrate St. Valentine’s Day with classroom parties and activities, but the students also participated in a Dance-a-thon to raise money for the playground. The students had lots of fun dancing to new songs with their class friends and also with their older buddies. This was the first of two planned fundraisers. I would like to personally thank you all for your continued support of Friday Night Bingo and your participa-tion at the Super Bingo evening held January 29. We truly appreciate and acknowledge how important and vital Bingo is for St. Bruno School. Katrina McDermott Principal

W ciągu ostatniego tygodnia, uczniowie klasy ósmej, zaczęli wypisywad listy o przyjęcie do Wższej Szkoły. Częśd naszych uczniów pójdzie do Szkoły de la Salle. Inni wybrali Szkoły Publiczne. Proszę Was o modlitwę za nich, aby zrealizowali to ważne zadanie w swoim życiu.

Katrina McDermott Directora
