“I am the way and the truth and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6

Carolyn Leonard Carolynn Leonard has been a valued member of the St. Boniface Family for 20 years. She is married to Bill and they have one son, Charles Singleton, age 40. Carolynn is retired but keeps a very active lifestyle by participating in several ministries at St. Boniface including; Stewardship/Discipleship Committee, Lec-tio Divina, Debt Reduction, Vacation Bible School, Adult Bible Studies, Disci-ples in Mission, RCIA, Lector, Family Promise, Money Counter and leads the Catholic Focus on Sunday morning. Some of the things that Carolynn would like to see at St. Boniface is more emphasis on Adult Studies for example a Parish-wide Spiritual Gifts/Charisms Study, Bible Studies and Catholic Church Studies.

Brandi Ellis Brandi Ellis has been a cherished member of the St. Boniface Family for 25 years. She recently married Joshua Ellis and works in Speech- Language Pa-thology. Brandi loves to serve the parish family by participating in the follow-ing ministries; CCW, Family Promise, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Children’s Liturgy, Pro-life Committee, Outreach Committee, and even the Stewardship Committee. Brandi says it best, when she speaks of her vision of St. Boniface in the future. “I would like to see St. Boniface grow with more family enriching programs, such as bible studies, catholic literature/themed programs, and com-munity services by continuing to improve parish involvement in giving of fami-

ly/personal time and talents. I seek to improve the disconnect between our youth, young adult, and adult parish members by encouraging members of the parish to take part in creating various outreach and church involvement activities and to commit to at least one ministry/program per year. As our parish grows, I have seen a growing need for young adult leadership after high school in the Catholic Church and in our own, so I seek to create a young adult ministry to meet the needs of young adults after high school and encourage them to continue involvement and growth in their faith.”

The Parish Council has two opening for three year terms. The following 5 people have been nominated for these positions. Voting will take place in the back of church on May 20 & 21 with the winners being an-nounced at masses on May 27 & 28. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact Lynn Duncan at [email protected].

Joshua Ellis Joshua Ellis is a newer member of St. Boniface being a member for three years but that doesn’t mean he has less to offer the Parish Family. Joshua is married to Brandi Ellis and is a student studying Computer Science and CNC technician. Joshua is also involved in Knight of Columbus and the Steward-ship Committee. Joshua would love to work on more programs or small tasks for our youth so that they can have fun while offering up their time and talents to the parish and gain a more in-depth knowledge of the faith. He would also love to see more interest in the Dynamic Catholic Parish Book Program.

Robin Smith Robin Smith has been a prized member of St. Boniface for 19 years. She would like to serve a second term on the Parish Council. Robin is married to Don and they have three boys, Michael, age 40 and Christopher and Sean both deceased. Robin is semi-retired and works part-time at Ebenezer Alive but she always makes time to help serve the people of the community with her musical talents. Robin plays guitar and sings at the 5:00 mass on Saturday nights along with singing at 3 area nursing homes for the Parish Outreach. She also lectors. A couple of things that Robin would like to see happen in the future of St. Boniface is to rent out the parish hall to bring in additional revenue for a new church building. Robin would also like to help encourage more people to join ministries to help grow the

family of St. Boniface physically and spiritually.

Janice Howard Janice Howard is also one of the newer members of the St. Boniface family nomi-nated for parish council but don’t let that fool you. She is a very dedicated parish member for over 4 years. Janice is currently single but does have two adult chil-dren, Dona Stark, also a member of the St. Boniface family and Frank Vagnoni who currently lives in California. Janice is a retired landscape designer and a very dedicated Grandmother. She has participated in the following ministries at St. Boniface; Parish Life, CCW, Money Counter, Outreach and Bereavement Com-mittees along with Family Promise and Vacation Bible School. One of the things Janice would like to work toward as a member of the Parish Council is to see the parish family have more interactive activities for youth and young adults.

May 14, 2017 5th Sunday of Easter “The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” -1 PETER 2:7 Everyone is given unique gifts. Many people are able to recognize their talents and abilities, but there are many people who are unsure of their gifts. This may make them feel worthless. If you know some-one who is struggling for a direction in life, give them a little encouragement. Help them discern how they might use their skills. No gift is too small or insignificant. WHERE DO WE BEGIN TO DISCOVER WHERE WE ARE EACH BEING CALLED? St. Paul has marvelous teachings in at least 4 differ-ent places in the New Testament. He tells us that God uses our own unique personalities in discovering where we are gifted, by Him, to serve in St. Boni-face's parish. Unbelievable? It does sound so--doesn't it? Yet when we are enlightened in this teaching, we quickly understand that we are each unique--no one has the exact same giftedness. And the marvelous beauty of this is God will empower us to use our gifts as He desires in building up His kingdom in our par-ish. At the same time, we will be involved in a minis-try that will give us great pleasure and no BURN-OUT. Why is this? Think about it---we will be doing exactly what our own particular personality is de-signed to do. No area of ministry is insignificant--each is vital to building up the Kingdom of God!

THE WAY Today we sense the apostles’ trepidation as they begin to realize that the Lord would soon be leaving them. In their fear, they ask, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” (John 14:5). Jesus tells them that he is the way. The Easter season has been a time of growing in Easter faith so that we, too, may learn to know that Jesus is the way. We can take comfort in the Lord’s promise that he is going to his Father’s house to prepare a place for us, his chosen people who have been called out of darkness into God’s wonderful light. As the paschal candle con-tinues to burn during this holy season, let us remember that in baptism we were given the light of Christ. With Christ our light as the beacon lighting our way, let us march toward the glory of Pentecost. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

If you can help with anyone of these projects please contact the parish office.
