St. Barnabas Pierrefonds Hi, and welcome back. School has started and we are
now in autumn. The air is cooler; leaves are falling and
changing colour, every day brings us a new canvass of
God’s beautiful work of creation. This new season
brings us new challenges and changes.
“Autumn is a second spring, where every leaf is a
flower.” Author unknown
A Message from Marie-Claire:
Dear St-Barnabas family,
“These words which I command you this day shall be
upon your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to
your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your
house, and when you walk by that way, and when you lie
down and when you rise” (Deut. 6:6,7).
As stated in the passage in Deuteronomy, each of us is
called to teach children about our Lord. With this new
Sunday school year, we are happy to welcome 9 children
from age 4 to 11. Thanks to the faithfulness of Debbie
we are now able to have 2 classes (grade pre-K to 3 and
grade 4 to 6) – Our classes start with prayers followed by
age adapted activities.
Stay tuned for our special activities throughout the year!
Thank you for your continuous support in this ministry
Faithfully
Debbie Shane and Marie-Claire Richer-Callender
What we have done so far! On back
to Church Sunday, we did a
monologue in front of the
congregation titled The Bible in 50 Words it is posted at
the back of the church or you can check it on line at
www.sundayschoolnetwork.com . We also got to take
home the balloons that were decorating the church.
Toilet Paper Turkey Craft - Stuff you will need: toilet
paper roll, scissors, construction paper,
pencil, googly eyes or a black marker. To
begin cut a triangle in your tp roll and pull
up to make the beak. Next trace your hand
on the construction paper and cut it out.
Then Cut out a small J shape (preferably out of red
paper) and place it under the beak. Next glue your hand
print to the back of the tp roll, and your eyes…. Now
you have an awesome decoration for your table!

Because of fowl play!
Why is hard for a ghost to tell a lie? –Because you can
see right through him!

Recipe: don’t throw out those pumpkin
seeds! After you have gutted your
pumpkin, take out the seeds and rinse
them off in a strainer (they will be slimy!
And it may take a few minutes to clean
them) let them dry, then put them in a
bowl and toss them in either some melted butter or olive
oil. Next, spread them out on a cookie sheet and roast in
oven at 325 for about 10 minutes (don’t over bake).
Lightly salt them and then let cool. Sooooooooooooo
good!
Did you know?
Our modern Sunday school of today was started back in
1780 in Britain, at a time when poor children who could
not read and worked all week in factories. Robert Raikes
started this movement and eventually other
denominations caught on.
The most memorable pumpkin is the chariot in
Cinderella.
The tallest man in the Bible is Goliath who stood 9 ½
feet tall!
There are only two books named after women in the
Bible, Ruth and Esther.
The English navigator Martin Frobisher is linked to the
origins of Canadian Thanksgiving. After a long journey
in which he failed to find a north passage through North
America to the Pacific Ocean he held thanks in 1578 for
surviving the perilous journey. This is considered to be
the first Thanksgiving held in Canada, 43 years before
the pilgrims landed in Plymouth Massachusetts.

Poem: www.dltk-holidays.com Gathering Leaves by Robert Frost
Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.
I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?
Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.
Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop
