This Christmas year we ask our parishioners to make a donation to St. Anthony Mission and NOT give gift cards. Please note on your gift that it is for toys for our children. We have a team in place that will buy gifts for the children. If you wish to give a gift card for the home-less, we suggest you contact Sr. Mary Frances prior to purchase. Mercy Mission provides food for those in need. Your gift may be more helpful as a
donation to Mercy Mission. St. Anthony plans to have our 2nd Annual “Feed the Hungry” by passing out “to go” boxes to those in need as well as well delivering. If you are interested in helping or donating to the cause, please call Karen at the office. Thank You!
Sr. Mary Frances has requested donations of SNEAKERS, TENNIS SHOES and BOOTS please.
The Mission currently has plenty of coats but sweaters and sweat-
shirts are helpful as well as blankets. Hardeeville’s homeless need to keep warm and we want to help!
Please continue to provide dry goods. The students of John Paul
II held a food drive at their school which resulted in over 3,000 cans of food for the needy!
Thank You JPII!! You all ROCK!!

PRAYER FOR SEMINARIANS
Father, thank You for the generosity of our seminarians. Safeguard them as they prepare for the priesthood. Keep all evil far from
them, so they may become strong Christian men who are faithful to prayer, diligent in their studies, open to spiritual direction, and doc-
ile to all aspects of seminary formation. Above all, enflame their hearts with love so they will be ardent and gentle shepherds for
Your Church. We make this prayer through the great High Priest, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Advent -- Week 2
“Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way. A voice of one crying out in the desert: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
makes straight his paths.’” Mark 1:1-8
John the Baptist knows he is not the centerpiece of his day, but he also knows that he plays a
vital role. John’s mission was to gear the people up, to remind them of how all the promises of
old assured them that the broken world they knew was neither the will of God nor was it defini-
tive. Relying on his religious traditions, John interpreted his times and preached that God would
soon intervene, but the people had to be ready if they were to be a part of what God was about to
do in their midst. John’s mission was to drive home the message that the way things were was not
the only possibility, that God had something much better in mind.
O God, grant me your sense of timing. In this season of short days and long nights, of grey and
white and cold teach me the lessons of beginnings: that waiting and endings may be a starting
place, a planting of seeds which bring to birth what is ready to be born – something right and just
and different, a new song, a deeper relationship, a fuller love – in the fullness of your time. O God,
grant me your sense of timing. (Excerpts from Celebration Publications: By Mary McGlone with
prayer adapted from Guerrillas of Grace by Ted Loder)

EL DESEO DE CONTEMPLAR A DIOS
Del libro Proslógion de San Anselmo, Obispo
Deja un momento tus ocupaciones habituales,
hombre insignificante; entra un instante en ti
mismo, lejos del tumulto de tus pensamientos.
Arroja fuera de ti las preocupaciones agobiantes;
ma mía, di a Dios: «Busco tu rostro; Señor, an-
helo ver tu rostro.» Y ahora, Señor, mi dios, en-
seña a mi corazón dónde y cómo buscarte, dón-
de y cómo encontrarte.
Señor, si no estás aquí, ¿dónde te buscaré, estan-
do ausente? Si estás por doquier, ¿cómo no des-
cubro tu presencia? Cierto es que habitas en una
claridad inaccesible. Pero ¿dónde se halla esa
inaccesible claridad? , ¿cómo me acercaré a
ella? ¿Quién me conducirá hasta ahí para verte
en ella? Y luego, ¿ con qué señales, bajo qué rasgo te buscaré? Nunca jamás te vi, Señor, Dios mío; no conoz-
Desea acercarse a ti, y tu morada
Tú me has creado y renovado, me has concedido
¿Cuándo volverás a nosotros? Míranos, Señor; escúchanos, ilumínanos, muéstrate a nosotros.
ñes, y no puedo encontrarte si Tú no te manifiestas. Deseando te buscaré, buscando te desearé, amando te
hallaré y hallándote te amaré.
