PRAY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT Spirit of wisdom and understanding, enlighten our minds to perceive the mysteries of the universe in relation to eternity. Spirit of right judgment and courage, guide us and make us firm in our baptismal decision to follow Jesus' way of love. Spirit of knowledge and reverence, help us to see the

lasting value of justice and mercy in our everyday dealings with one another. May we respect life as we work to solve problems of family and nation, economy and ecology. Spirit of God, spark our faith, hope and love into new action each day. Fill our lives with wonder and awe in your presence which penetrates all creation. Amen.

HUMOR CORNER In a car in the middle of Colorado a wife said to her husband, “Oh dear, I’m afraid the house is going to burn down! I’m sure I left the iron on.”

“The house will not burn down, Dear,” he said. “Trust me.”

“How do you know that?” asked the wife. He replied, “because I left the water running in the bathtub.”

CHANGE OF SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE

Within a few weeks, summer vacations will begin, and many families will leave Key Biscayne to take a break elsewhere. Since during these months the Mass attendance is reduced, beginning Sunday, June 9th, until September 1st, 2013, the Mass schedule will be as follows: 9:00 A.M., 11:00 A.M., and 6:00 P.M. (English)

12:45 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. (Spanish)

This of course combines the Masses at 8:30 am and 10:00 am into only one at 9:00 am. At the same time, the Mass at 11:30 am will be advanced to 11:00 am. The Saturday Mass will continue as always at 5:30 pm. On September 8th, we will return to the regular schedule.

THE CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION

ON JUNE 2, 2013

At St. Agnes, we have the cherished tradition of a procession in honor of the Body of Christ—Corpus Christi. This year it will be on Sunday, June 2th. We will begin in the church after 12:45 P.M. Mass, that celebrates the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. Afterwards, we will have the procession through the gardens around the church, ending in the Chapel where the Blessed Sacrament will remain exposed. Everyone is invited.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

SPIRIT OF GOD

Today, Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit which makes us Church. The Holy Spirit of God comes at Pentecost with the breath of Jesus, as GOD breathes His life into a lump of clay, and the life

of all humankind comes to birth in Adam. When pride erects the tower of Babel, it results in the confusion of languages that divide peoples and nations. So the Holy Spirit of God heals all division at Pentecost in the universal proclamation of God’s marvels to each in his or her native language.

We are called to celebrate the fire of inspired words, passionate hearts, and visionary minds that shapes us as a universal Church. We are called to celebrate the wind of spiritual consolation, healing power, and risen life that molds us as a universal Church. We are called to celebrate Jesus’ breathing on us in the baptismal cleansing, sacramental anointing, and Eucharistic nourishment that brings us to birth as universal Church.

When a person has peace, s/he is able to enjoy the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which are: love, joy, peace, tolerance, kindness, gentleness and self-control. When Jesus appears to the disciples, they are filled with happiness, letting go of their fright, and experiencing the joy of His love. Because, while fear paralyzes, love energizes.

The annual feast of Pentecost affords us an opportunity for being renewed in the Spirit which continues to be a source of life and guidance for all who will open the window of their minds and hearts in welcome. To that end we pray:

“Spirit of God, inspire us, enliven us, challenge and chasten us, empower us and humble us. Illuminate our way that we, in turn, may illuminate the way of others.” Amen

PastorPastor’’s Notess Notes

Come, Holy Spirit, fill us with your love, and enliven our faith with your gifts.

Grant us wisdom to recognize those who are searching, understanding to become messengers of your call, and right judgment to speak your word of invitation.

Bestow on us courage to act with confidence, knowledge to share the gift of faith with others, and reverence to honor your grace in all we meet.

Deepen our wonder and awe in your presence as you guide us in witnessing to the power of the gospel. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

9:00 A.M., 11:00 A.M. y 6:00 P.M. (English) 12:45 P.M. y 7:30 P.M.
