BAPTISM PREPARATION & BAPTISMS: Baptism Preparation Classes-Spanish will be held January 26, 2018, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and English on January 27, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Pre-registration is required. Class costs are $50 for parents and $30 for 2 Godparents. Baptisms will be held on February 4, 2018. No Baptisms are held during Lent. Contact Fr. Albeiro before setting a time for your child’s Baptism. Baptisms will be held for St. Mi-chael and St. Philip Benizi parishioners only.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Please allow at least six months for marriage preparation. Contact Fr. Albeiro for details.

BAUTISMO PREPARACIÓN Y BAUTIZOS: Las clases de preparación para el bautismo-español se llevarán a cabo el 26 de enero de 2018, de 6:00 a 9:00 p.m. en inglés el 27 de enero, de 9:00 a.m. a 12: 00 del medi-odía. Los costos de clase son de $ 50 para padres y $ 30 para 2 padrinos. Se requiere preinscripción. Los bautizos se llevarán a cabo el 4 de febrero de 2018. No se realizan bautismos durante la Cuaresma. Contactar al Padre Albeiro antes de establecer un tiempo para el Bautismo de su hijo. Los bautismos se llevarán a cabo para los feligreses de San Miguel y San Felipe Benizi solamente.

VII. LOS ACTOS DEL PENITENTE La confesión de los pecados
Según el mandamiento de la Iglesia "todo fiel llegado a la edad del uso de razón debe confesar, al menos una vez al año, los pecados graves de que tiene conciencia”. "Quien tenga conciencia de hallarse en pecado grave que no celebre la misa ni comulgue el Cuerpo del Señor sin acudir antes a la confesión sacramental no ser que concurra un motivo grave y no haya posibilidad de confe-sarse; y, en este caso, tenga presente que está obligado a hacer un acto de contrición perfecta, que incluye el propósito de confesarse cuanto antes”. Los niños deben acceder al sacramento de la Penitencia antes de recibir por primera vez la Sagrada Comunión.
Sin ser estrictamente necesaria, la confesión de los pe-cados veniales, sin embargo, se recomienda vivamente por la Iglesia. En efecto, la confesión habitual de los pe-cados veniales ayuda a formar la conciencia, a luchar contra las malas inclinaciones, a dejarse curar por Cris-to, a progresar en la vida del Espíritu. Cuando se recibe con frecuencia, mediante este sacramento, el don de la misericordia del Padre, el creyente se ve impulsado a ser él también misericordioso:
El que confiesa sus pecados actúa ya con Dios. Dios acusa tus pecados, si tú también te acusas te unes a Dios. El hombre y el pecador, son por así decirlo, dos realidades: cuando oyes hablar del hombre, es Dios quien lo ha hecho; cuando oyes hablar del pecador, es el hombre mismo quien lo ha hecho. Destruye lo que tú has hecho para que Dios salve lo que El ha hecho…Cuando comienzas a detestar lo que has hecho, entonces tus obras buenas comienzan porque reconoces tus obras malas. El comienzo de las obras buenas es la confesión de las obras malas. Haces la verdad y vienes a la Luz.
La satisfacción
Muchos pecados causan daño al prójimo. Es preciso hacer lo posible para repararlo (por ejemplo, restituir las cosas robadas, restablecer la reputación del que ha sido calumniado, compensar las heridas). La simple justicia exige esto. Pero además el pecado hiere y debilita al pecador mismo, así como sus relaciones con Dios y con el prójimo. La absolución quita el pecado, pero no reme-dia todos los desórdenes que el pecado causó. Liberado del pecado, el pecador debe todavía recobrar la plena salud espiritual. Por tanto, debe hacer algo más para reparar sus pecados: debe "satisfacer" de manera apro-piada o "expiar" sus pecados. Esta satisfacción se llama también "penitencia". VII. THE ACTS OF THE PENITENT The confession of sins
According to the Church's command, "after having attained the age of discretion, each of the faithful is bound by an obligation faithfully to confess serious sins at least once a year." Anyone who is aware of having committed a mortal sin must not receive Holy Communion, even if he experiences deep contrition, without having first received sacramental absolution, unless he has a grave reason for receiving Commun-ion and there is no possibility of going to confession.
Children must go to the sacrament of Penance before receiving Holy Communion for the first time.
Without being strictly necessary, confession of every-day faults (venial sins) is nevertheless strongly rec-ommended by the Church. Indeed the regular confes-sion of our venial sins helps us form our conscience, fight against evil tendencies, let ourselves be healed by Christ and progress in the life of the Spirit. By re-ceiving more frequently through this sacrament the gift of the Father's mercy, we are spurred to be merci-ful as he is merciful:
Whoever confesses his sins… is already working with God. God indicts your sins; if you also indict them, you are joined with God. Man and sinner are, so to speak, two realities: when you hear "man" - this is what God has made; when you hear "sinner" - this is what man himself has made. Destroy what you have made, so that God may save what he has made. . . . When you begin to abhor what you have made, it is then that your good works are beginning, since you are accusing yourself of your evil works. The begin-ning of good works is the confession of evil works. You do the truth and come to the light.
Satisfaction
Many sins wrong our neighbor. One must do what is possible in order to repair the harm (e.g., return stolen goods, restore the reputation of someone slandered, pay compensation for injuries). Simple justice requires as much. But sin also injures and weakens the sinner himself, as well as his relationships with God and neighbor. Absolution takes away sin, but it does not remedy all the disorders sin has caused. Raised up from sin, the sinner must still recover his full spiritual health by doing something more to make amends for the sin: he must "make satisfaction for" or "expiate" his sins. ST. PHILIP BENIZI ACTIVITIES: DECORATING FOR ADVENT: On Saturday, Dec. 02nd, we will be decorating for the Advent Season. All help is need-ed! We will begin at 9:00 a.m. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS DINNER & CHILDRENS CHRIST-MAS PARTY: On Sunday, Dec. 10th, the Knights will be hav-ing their wonderful Christmas Dinner & Party for all Fami-lies. This will begin at 3:00 p.m. They will be cooking a turkey, and gravy. So plan to bring a dish to share. We're hoping that Santa will arrive, so that he will be able to listen to all the chil-dren’s Christmas Wishes. FATHER ALBEIRO INSTALLED AS OUR PASTOR!! All are invited to attend the 5:00 p.m. Mass at St. Michael Church on Saturday, Dec. 16th. Bishop Stephen Berg will be here to install Father as our Pastor. It is a time for celebra-tion. A dinner will be held afterwards in St. Joseph Hall at St. Michael. Watch the bulletin for details. ST. CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE: On Sunday, Dec. 24th, St. Philip Benizi will be having the regular 8:00 a.m. Mass. Our Christmas Mass will be Monday, Dec. 25, at 8:00 a.m. ALTAR & ROSARY SOCIETY CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON Anna Bridge has volunteered to host the luncheon at her home @ 498 SE Birdie Circle, on Monday, Dec. 11th at 12:30 p.m. The Theme will be "Italian". Please bring a dish to share, plus if you wish to join in on the fun gift exchange, bring a $10.00 gift. A sign up sheet will be in the entry.

GIFTS FOR CHILDREN OF INCARCERATED Each year we have a dinner and party for the families of the incarcerated at DCC. We provide gifts for each child from their father. This is a great opportunity to provide Christmas for someone who other-wise might go without. If you are interested in adopting one of these children and providing the gifts please contact Deacon Price. Your name will be placed on a list and once the details of each child's gift list is available he will provide the card with the list.

BAZAAR 2018 MEETING - Please plan on attending a meeting planned for December 6, in the Social Room at 6:00 PM. The objective is to find new and additional volunteers and leaders for the bazaar and to develop a manual for it. As well as existing team leaders, anyone interested in playing a leadership role is invited. This will be hosted by the Parish Council.
