    If,theres,one,thing,that,can,be,said,about,our,year,at,the,SRT;,it,is,that,we,have,connued,to,work,relessly,and,eecvely,for,our,members,in,partnership,with,our,school,division,,This,year,saw,the,racaon,of,a,new,collecve,agreement,the,introducon,of,extra,curricular,recognion,and,the,start,of,a,joint,commiee,looking,at,professional,development,and,report,card,wring,,Our,execuve,experienced,a,number,of,changes,and,we,have,an,excing,mix,of,new,and,returning,execuve,members,moving,forward,into,2015-16,,We,introduced,a,new,social,event,(bowling),and,remembered,our,friend,Colleen,Kachur-Reico,at,the,annual,golf,tournament,now,dedicated,to,her,memory,,We,introduced,vision,coverage,into,our,extended,health,package,which,will,be,acve,at,the,beginning,of,the,new,school,year

    We,worked,onyourbehalfall,the,way,to,the,end,of,this,school,year, and,as,a,result,I,have,excing,news,to,share,,Recent,agreements,in,Thompson,and,Brandon,include,language,which,impact,the,way,maternity,top-up,is,calculated,for,teachers,specically,in,the,way,breaks,(spring,summer,and,winter),are,considered,,We,approached,our,division,as,soon,as,these,agreements,became,ocial,seeking,the,same,collecve,agreement,language,for,our,members,,I:am:happy:to:report:that:the:SRSD:and:the:SRT.:have:an:agreement-in-principle:that:will:result:in:a:similar:process:being:applied:to:members:in:our:division:who:have:a:maternity:leave:which:is:impacted:by:a:break::While:I:dont:ancipate:adding:the:ocial:leer:of:understanding:to:our:collecve:agreement:unl:later:this:year,:this:will:be:the:pracce:on:a:go-forward:basis::If,you,have,quesons,about,maternity,top-up,benets,please,call,or,email

    We,had,two,PD,half,days,both,of,which,were,aernoons,The,rst,was,March,20th,and,the,second,was,today,;pril,24th,and,;pril,28th,Connie,Ruggles,Mary,;rkle,Trudy,Szun,;ngela,Marquart,Breanne,Pomeroy,Nancy,Estabrooks,and,Collin,;nderson,parcipated,in,these,learning,opportunies

    Our,focus,was,incorporang,ideas,and,strategies,from,Math,Expressions,by,Dr,Cathy,Marks,Krpan,Good,Quesons,by,Marian,Small,and,Number,Talks,by,Sherry,Parrish

    We,also,spent,some,me,planning,specic,shared,lessons,We,implemented,these,over,the,me,period,between,each,planning,session,We,discussed,what,worked,what,did,not,and,what,we,would,change,or,adapt,in,the,future,;s,a,team,we,selected,the,recipe,lesson,strategy,from,Math,Expressions,with,the,concept,of,place,mat,math,We,gave,each,class,the,same,recipe,and,me,to,work,on,these,tasks,in,our,own,rooms,Then,we,held,a,math,congress,with,our,students,to,share,their,thinking,Following,that,acvity,we,intermixed,our,students,across,all,three,rooms,and,had,them,share,and,discuss,their,learning,in,a,mixed,classroom,math,congress

    This,acvity,was,very,meaningful,for,us,however,aer,our,second,meeng,where,we,shared,our,successes,and,challenges,with,this,acvity,we,have,come,up,with,a,second,teacher,generated,lesson,using,the,same,inquiry,based,approach,For,example,looking,to,the,future,we,are,implemenng,an,inquiry,problem,inspired,by,Earth,day,The,problem,is,authenc,and,open,ended,It,is,intended,to,be,conversaon,driven,and,can,be,approached,from,many,angles,Students,will,be,given,mathemacal,informaon,about,fresh,water,consumpon,within,our,school,They,will,have,to,work,in,teams,to,discuss,formulate,and,calculate,how,much,water,in,litres,our,school,consumes,over,given,me,periods,They,will,then,be,given,a,new,formula,for,consumpon,to,calculate,and,formulate,how,much,water,could,be,saved,in,the,same,given,me,periods,Later,this,lesson,will,translate,into,persuasive,wring,social,studies,and,even,science,outcomes

    We,also,looked,at,the,program,Contexts,for,Learning,by,Catherine,Twomey-Fosnot,This,program,is,a,mul-faceted,approach,to,teach,basic,math,skills,through,authenc,stories,and,related,prescribed,acvies,;s,a,grade,group,we,chose,and,prepared,one,component,from,the,Fosnot,kit,to,teach,to,our,class,with,the,book,lessons,and,math,congress,We,adapted,and,extended,these,acvies,and,concepts,based,on,our,student,needs,and,collegial,discussions

    On,;pril,22,6,teachers,from,Richer,School,plus,a,kindergarten,teacher,from,;rborgate,spent,the,day,at,Ecole,Riverbend,School,in,Winnipeg,This,is,a,school,where,some,of,the,sta,are,implemenng,the,Reggio,Emilia,approach,Our,day,was,funded,by,the,SRT;

    We,already,knew,that,many,of,the,tenets,of,the,Reggio,philosophy,struck,a,chord,with,us

    We,liked,the,way,that,Reggio,teachers,make,the,childrens,own,interests,the,point,of,departure,for,planning,their,learning,Reggio,teachers,observe,and,listen,to,the,children,very,closely,to,see,what,direcons,the,learning,process,might,take,and,plan,from,there

    One,important,queson,on,our,minds,was,the,extent,to,which,the,teacher,plans,and,guides,the,learning,and,we,wanted,to,see,real,life,examples,of,classes,and,teachers,to,judge,how,the,Reggio,approach,could,work,for,us

    We,Were,aracted,by,the,Reggio,noon,of,the,Hundred,Languages,of,Children,-that,is,the,many,ways,in,which,children,can,communicate,(print,art,drama,movement,music,and,puppetry,for,example),Communicaon,is,seen,in,Reggio,as,necessary,for,cognive,linguisc,and,social,growth,We,saw,the,importance,that,this,idea,was,given,in,some,of,the,Riverbend,classrooms,This,philosophy,certainly,es,in,with,the,idea,of,mulple,intelligences

    Coming,from,a,school,where,collaboraon,among,teachers,is,already,strong,we,idened,with,the,Reggio,view,that,it,is,essenal,for,teachers,to,meet,oen,and,to,work,together,as,a,team,We,also,agreed,with,the,belief,that,learning,to,collaborate,is,equally,important,for,the,children,Much,is,learned,as,they,talk,analyse,compare,hypothesize,and,problem-solve,;s,well,we,place,weight,on,the,Reggio,view,that,schooling,must,create,global,cizens,in,a,world,that,is,increasingly,connected,and,interdependent

    Regglo,teachers,are,seen,as,researchers,and,learners,in,the,
