1. Seminar and Work Shop on the topic “Non-Ionising Radiation Hazards In

Mobile Communication” on 12/08/2016

On the occasion of DBT sponsored Star College Programme, the Department of

Physics conducted a seminar on 12th August 2016 on the topic “Non-ionising radiation

hazards in mobile communication”. The seminar and workshop was conducted by the Chief

Guest Dr. A. ANADAVADIVEL, Vice President, IAPT, Assistant professor of “SRI

VENKATESWARA COLLEGE”, SRI PERAMBATHUR, Chennai delivered the special

lecture on the topic “Non-ionising radiation hazards in mobile communication”.

2. WORKSHOP on “PRACTICE OF ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY” on (17th -19th

August 2016)

The Department of Physics under DBT Star College Scheme conducted a workshop

from 17thto 19th August 2016 on the topic “Practice of Electronic Assembly”. The Resource

Person was Mr. R.Ashok Kumar, Engineer-Support, MAAS Tech, Chennai.

3. FIELD VISIT-THE DESALINATION PLANT AT NEMMELI

The students of II BSc Physics, JBAS College for Women, Chennai went on a field

trip to the Desalination plant at Nemmeli on 20/9/2016 as part of the DBT sponsored Star

College Scheme

3. Special Lecture and Demonstration

The Department of Physics conducted a Special Lecture and Demonstration on the topic

“ENERGY CONSERVATION AND ELECTRICAL SAFETY on 22/9/2016 under

“DBT- STAR COLLEGE SCHEME ”. The chief guest for the function was Mr.

B.SRINIVASAN (B.E,M.B.A) Senior Manager/Training in “TAMILNADU

GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION CORPORATION LTD”(TANGEDCO)

4. Demonstration and training on the principles and designing of a switch board

The Department of Physics conducted a workshop on Demonstration and training on the

principles and designing of a switch board on 27/09/2016 under “DBT- STAR COLLEGE

SCHEME ”.

5. Workshop-ELECTRONICS MADE EASY THROUGH MINI PROJECTS

The Department of Physics conducted a workshop on “Electronics made easy through

mini projects” on24/08/2016 under “DBT- STAR COLLEGE SCHEME”.

6. Workshop-Assembly language, Programming and interfacing

The seminar based on “Assembly Language, Programming and Interfacing was held

on 27/08/16. The resource person was Dr. G. Kumarsethian, Retired Professor of Madras

Christian College.

7. WORKSHOP-SENSOR BOARD ELECTRONIC AUTOMATION USING

EMBEDDED MICROCONTROLLER

The Department of physics conducted a workshop on the topic “ Sensor based

electronic automation using AT mega 328” 8 bit Embedded microcontroller for the students

on 06/09/2016

8. WORKSHOP-FABRICATION AND TESTING OF ROLLING MESSAGE

LED DISPLAY BOARD USING MICROPROCESSOR

On 09/09/2016, a workshop on “Moving Display” or “Bulleting Boards” was

conducted. The resource person Dr.G. Kumar sathian explained about the modules and its

working.
