1. National Youth Day

Students Welfare Association organizes this day on 12th January, Swami Vivekananda birthday. SWA

organized speeches on universal values for the students and various events at inter college and intera college

level and prizes are distributed.

2. Republic Day

Every year we celebrate this day on 26th January, NSS and Sports Department take active role in organizing

this day. Flag hoisting is done, various competitions are conducted and sweets are distributed.

3. National Science Day

Every year National Science Day is celebrate on 28th February as a remarkable tribute to the greatest Indian

Scientist and Nobel Prize winner Sir C.V. Raman. From 2016 Science Club of Science Departments

organizes this in a grand manner with Guest lecturers from Scientists from ISRO/DRDO/NIRM/IISc/KSTA

and other science related events like Quiz, Essay Writing, Model Making, Debate, Chrome Art competitions

etc are organised and prizes along with certificates are distributed for the winners.

NSD 2019 was celebrated on 8th March 2019. KSTA sponsored Rs 40,000. Dr. S. Ramachandra, Scientist

‘G’, GTRE, DRDO, Bangalore and Dr. B. N. Nagendra,

Senior Scientist-SF, ISRO, Bangalore were resource

persons.

Science Club organised NSD on 28th February 2018, Chief Guest was Prof. Sethuram, Department of Mathematics,

FGC, KGF.

National Science Day was organised on 28th February 2017. The Chief Guest was Dr. S. Kumar Reddy,

Scientist, NIRM. The intra-collegiate competitions held

were drawing, collage, quiz competition, Debate and

dumb charades.

4. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanthi

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanthi was celebrated in the college on 13th April 2019. Speech on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was

given by Dr.Manjula, Head, Department of Kannada and then awareness rally on the Importance and Right of

Voting was organised.

5. Book Week

Dr. S. R. Ranganathan was a Mathematician and Librarian from India. He is considered to be the father of Library

Science in India. His birthday is observed every year as the National Library Day in India. In remembrance of Dr.

S.R.Ranganathan, SBMJC Library is Celebrating Book Week from 10th August to 14th August. A Week long

Exhibition of Library Resources for the SBMJC students was organised

6. Independence Day

Every year we celebrate this day on 15th August, NSS and Sports Department take active role in organizing

this day. Flag hoisting is done with patriotic songs, speeches and sweets are distributed

7. Teacher’s Day

ARG and SWA organizes Teachers day on 5th September, in memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

birthday. Various events are organized for the teachers and prizes were distributed for the winners from the

management. Students too celebrate this by organizing games for the teachers.

8. Hindi Diwas

Every year Hindi Department celebrates this day on 14th September, on the Birth day of Sri Beohar Rajendra

Simha and declared Hindi as an official language; various competitions are organized at intercollegiate level

and Schools at District Level.

9. Kannada Rajyotsava

Kannada Department celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava on 1st November as Karnataka formation Day.

Karnataka State Flag is hoisted and various events are organized for the students.

10. National Mathematics day

National Mathematics was celebrated on 22nd December 2019. Chief Guest for the function was Dr. Mahesh Kumar,

Asst. Prof. Mathematics, GFGC, K. R. Puram. On this day documentary on Sri. Ramanujan was presented by the students and

events like Quiz, Find Me, Can You Solve Me, Who Got Brains were organised and prizes were distributed to the

winners.
