introduction to Alcatel-Lucent’s concept of service
implementation. Students are introduced to the steps
for deploying vPn and residential services in a service
provider’s MPLS network. various services supported in
the Alcatel-Lucent Service Routing portfolio are covered
in this course: internet enhanced Service (ieS), virtual
Private Wire Service (vPWS), vPLS and virtual Private
Routed network (vPRn). Service mirroring and service
operations, administration and maintenance (oA&M) are
also covered.
duration: 4 days
6. Alcatel-Lucent Virtual Private LAN Services
this course builds on students’ knowledge of Layer 2
services. the course outlines the theoretical aspects of
vPLS, Management vPLS (M-vPLS) and hierarchical vPLS
(h-vPLS). Design considerations, verification and trou-
bleshooting are also covered in extensive lab exercises.
upon completion of this course, students will be able to
understand and deploy complex vPLS designs.
duration: 5 days
10AlcAtel-lucent SRc PRogRAm
7. Alcatel-Lucent Virtual Private Routed Networks
the Alcatel-Lucent virtual Private Routed networks
course explains the concepts and operation of Layer
3 vPn technology and configuration based on MPLS.
upon completion of this course, students will understand
vPRn design and be able to configure various vPRn
topologies as well as proactively troubleshoot and
monitor vPRn services. Multicast operation in a vPRn
is also extensively covered, including Draft-Rosen
Multicast vPn (M-vPn) and next generation (ng) M-vPn.
duration: 4 days
8. Alcatel-Lucent Quality of Service
the Alcatel-Lucent Quality of Service course presents
and develops the theory, strategies and techniques
for implementing Quality of Service (QoS) strategies
in an iP/MPLS network, enabling service providers to
offer differentiated services and guarantee Service
Level Agreements (SLAs). the course introduces key
QoS performance metrics and explains the main QoS
functions needed to ensure that different traffic flows
receive the required treatment. the QoS functions
of traffic classification, marking, queuing and buffer
management, scheduling and rate limiting are explained
in detail and are reinforced in hands-on labs that allow
students to observe the impact of each QoS function.
upon completion of this course, students will understand
QoS concepts and principles, the need for QoS, and how
to implement QoS on the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service
Router (SR) to achieve differentiated services.
duration: 5 days
9. Alcatel-Lucent Multicast Protocols
this course provides in-depth training on iP multicast:
concepts, terminology, addressing, signaling protocols,
and design and implementation considerations. upon
successful completion of the course, students will be
able to demonstrate a solid understanding of iP multi-
cast theories and concepts; describe the operation of
a multicast enabled network; describe the operation
of igMPv2/igMP v3 and PiM; describe the techniques
used for providing resiliency in multicast networks;
and implement iPv6 multicast using Multicast Listener
Discovery (MLD), Source-Specific Multicast (SSM) and
Any Source Multicast (ASM).
duration: 3 days
