I came to get a renewed sense of purpose through interacting and listening to diverse success stories and lessons learned from other women leaders.” St. Joseph’s Secondary School - Chivuna is a rural boarding school for 720 girls located in Chief Hanjalika’s area in Tonga land, where cattle are highly valued as wealth and girls are married off early to bring wealth to the family. The school was founded to provide holistic education to the rural girls, and to give them voice so that they can take charge of their lives. My responsibility is to manage and coordinate administrative and academic programmes in the school in order to deliver holistic education to the girl-child. With my new understanding of feminism and my diverse facilitation skills, I hope to provide quality women’s leadership not only in the school but in my voluntary work with girls and women in the community. I hope to use the asset-based development framework to work with women on the care for the environment and in doing so, also encourage them to send their children to school.
