Peter -Pete- for his family. He arrived in Manito-IL early 1885 with his parents Leonardus and Hendrika van Pamelen (page 9) and brother August (page 21-26). Peter farmed on the Palmer farm west of Manito-IL. He got his final documentation of citizenship on October 28,1896, the year his father Leonardus died. The moment Louis DeSutter returned in Manito-IL in 1908, Peter left the Palmer familyfarm with his spouse Julia and 4 children for Westport, Brown County-SD. His son Henry's family (3. ) moved in 1922 to Vernonia-OR and his oldest son and 2 daugthers lived close to him in Brown County-SD till he died in 1926 of an apoplexy in Garland, Brown County-SD.

Married in Brown County-SD June 15,1921 to Martha Krege, born in Germany-Europe on January 21,1898. Martha was a resident of Westport-SD from 1910 and met Charles as her neighbour. She became a wonderful cook and her speciality was pie with butter and served with cream, a German recipe of her mother. They stayed and lived in Garland-SD while his brother Henry moved to Oregon in 1922. Charles died suddenly, of a stroke, while alone in his truck on his property, February 19,1944. Martha remarried June 21,1941 Paul Keen, born in Aberdeen-SD January 1,1884 and they lived for a while in Oregon. Martha died in Columbia, Brown County-SD

September 10,1992. Paul Keen died March 3,1974. No children born.

2. Walter Born in Topeka-IL October 6,1894. Died in Topeka-IL December 28,1894 at 2 m. 22 days. Buried on Quiver Presbyterian Cemetery, were he rest in peace, together with his grandfather Leo Van Palmer (D.10. ).

3. Henry Bernard Born in Topeka-IL -Manito area- on March 15,1896. At the age of 12 he went with his parents to Henry and Ella Fern Westport, Brown County-SD. He married in Brown County-SD on May 2,1917 to Ella Fern Hewitt, born December 12,1894 in Amherst-SD, daughter of John Franklin Hewitt (1851-1932) and Edith Elizabeth Lewis (1864-1913). The family moved around 1922 to Vernonia-OR and they built their own house in McNulty-OR. The family moved in 1931 to St.Helens-OR. During and after WWII he managed a gaspump station and a small shop in St.Helens and had a service station and tire shop at Wecoma Beach at the Oregon coast where they lived since May 1941. He did a good business in vulcanizing, and repairing, old tires which were hard to get. Ella Fern died in Portland-OR on April 27,1957. Uncle Engle (D.10.1. ) from Manito-IL must be one of his favorite uncles, shortly before Henry died he mentioned his name. Henry died on October 29,1973 in Portland-OR. Children born:

a. Stanley Leroy, born in Aberdeen, Brown County-SD on April 22,1918. Married Hazel Minnie Robinson, born in Massachusetts on August 30,1918. Hazel's family came to Oregon in 1935, and moved into a house on 11th Street, St.Helens. Hazel was a close friend of his sister Wilma (b.). Stanley died in WWII at Fort William McKinley, Manilla, The Philippines on February 5,1945, leaving wife Hazel and 2 sons. Children born:

D.10.13. Augustus Franciscus and Mary Martin

August and Uncle Gus or Gustav for his family. After the Palmers moved from NY to Illinois in 1885, he worked with his father and brother Petrus in the Manito-IL area as tenant farmer. His older brother, Engelbertus (D.10.1.) who returned to Holland to marry, joined the family again November 1888 with his spouse Nathalia de Zutter. As soon as August arrived the age of 21 years in 1890, he took out his naturalisation papers and became a loyal and faithful citizen of the United States. After his marriage at the Martin Homestead Farm in Topeka-IL in 1892, he farmed on a farm in the Topeka-IL area and moved in 1899 to a farm at Rural Route 3, Manito Township.

<----Farm registration: Mason County Farmer's Directory - 1917. August farmed as a tenant farmer with his daughter Gertrude who had two children at the time, on 300 acres of land, section 19 of Hugh McCarry's land at Rural Route 3, Manito Township.

After his wife Mary past away in 1916 he subsequently made his house with his daughter Gertrude (1.) and husband Merrel Mitchell till the date he married again in 1918. He and his second wife Elizabeth moved with the Mitchell's in May 1919 to a farmhouse in Fulton County-IL and late twenties to the 'Frank Butt' farm near Havana-IL. In 1932 to a smaller farm half a mile west of Havana-IL and in 1933 they moved to a retiring home in Manito-IL because of his wife Lizzie's illness. August and Mary Palmer had 134 descendants and the Palmers hold their 27th annual family reunion in 1989.

Born in Manito-IL August 27,1897 died September 27,1953. Worked as farmhand for William Eschmeijer in 1918 before he married on July 26,1919 to Iva Mae Vance , born September 25,1898, died March 4,1974. He made his home at Canton City-IL, Fulton County -IL and so did his sister Gertrude (1. ) and family. The family moved to Sherman Township -IL in the late 20-tees. Elmer returned to Manito in the early 30-tees and stopped farming and got a pay-job at the Manito Filler Co. for many years and later for the Manito Village at the Water Department. Iva became a Gold Star Mother of the Manito unit of the The Hill -Palmer Post #561 for war veterans, dedicated to her son Robert (c.). In the last years of life of his father August, Elmer and Iva took care of him till his death in 1946.
