Hat Body

Ch 61 with a H-hook; Join to form a circle (Hat can easily be adjusted by do more or less chains as

needed for the desired hat circumference)

Round 1: Dc in the same stitch and each stitch around (61) 

Round 2 -15: Ch 2; dc around, join (61)

Fold the top of the hat with the wrong sides together at the beginning row. Sc across to close the hat.

Fasten off.

Earflaps

Find middle point at each side of the hat. Count 7 stitches from each side of the center stitch. Use stitch

markers to identity the 15 stitches used for earflap.

Round 1: With the right side facing you. Attach the yarn at one end and dc in the same stitch and the

next 14 stitches with an H-hook. (15)

Round 2: Ch 1, turn, dc across (15)

Round 3: Ch 1, turn, dc decrease in the first 2 stitches, dc in the next 11 stitches, dc decrease in the last

2 stitches (13)

Round 4: Ch 1, turn, dc across (13)

Round 5: Ch 1, turn, dc decrease in the first 2 stitches, dc in the next 11 stitches, dc decrease in the last

2 stitches (11)

Round 6: Ch 1, turn, dc across (11)

Round 7: Repeat round 5 (9)

Round 8: Repeat round 6 (9)

Round 9: Repeat round 5 (7)

Round 10: Repeat round 6 (7)

Round 11: Dc decrease the first 2 stitches, hdc next 3 stitches, dc decrease the last 2 stitches (5) fasten

off 

Round 12: Sc around the entire hat (contrasting color optional) with G-hook

Eyes

Round 1: With G-hook, with black yarn, 7 sc in magic circle, tighten and fasten off (7)

Round 2: Attach white yarn in any sc; 2 sc in each stitch around, join (14)

Round 3: ch 1, [sc, 2sc] around in the BLO (21)

Round 4: Attach pink yarn in any sc, ch 1, [sc, 2sc] around (28)

Round 5: ch 2, dc around in both loops of stitch (28)

Beak

Round 1: sc in the 2nd

chain from the hook and each chain across (9)

Round 2: chain 1, turn, sc decrease in the first 2 stitches, sc in the next 5 stitches, sc decrease in the

next 2 stitches (7)

Round 3: ch 1, turn, sc across (7)

Round 4: ch 1, turn, sc decrease in the first 2 stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches, sc decrease in the next 2

stitches (5)

Round 5: Repeat rounds 3-4 until 1 stitch remains; fasten off 

Flower 

Using white yarn, 5 sc in magic circle with an H-hook, fasten off 

Round 1: Attach the pink yarn, ch 2, 3 dc and slip stitch in the same stitchRound 2-5: Slip stitch into the next sc, 3 dc, slip stitch in same stitch and the next sc, fasten off 

Attach the eyes, beak, flower, and tassels to finish the hat.
