Supporting Independent Living through Digital Television
• Provides vulnerable older people with access to information and online services – that are relevant to their needs –through interactive television
• Each individual receives a digital set top box that gives them access to the Freeview channels
• They also get a broadband connection, that plugs into the set top box to give them access to local programmes and services on demand
• A single button on the remote control takes the user to a personalised menu of information and services. Each person gets a different experience, relevant to their needs
• The service is one of four UK Flagship projects for Inclusive eGovernment

Localised and Personalised
• Localised– Programmes and information listed by proximity to the client, e.g. the nearest smoking cessation class
– Searching for information is based on the user’s location, i.e. nearest dentist, GP, etc.
• Personalised– Client can log in to access:
• Email• Calendar• Bookmark favourite programmes
• The more the end user accessing the service, the more relevant the recommendations

STREAM Safe and Sound
• Enhancing the TV service with ‘always on’ lifestyle monitoring
• Core package includes:– Movement sensors
– Door sensors
– Temperature sensors
• Ability for approved relatives, carers and service providers to set up their own automated alerts (email, text, voice call)
• Alerts to the TV
• Live updates available at any time on PC and Mobile and can be made available to approved call centre operations

Telehealth
• Sharing the existing broadband connection to integrate specific telemedical devices:
– Docobo’s Doc@home
– Video telephony services
– Individual devices: blood pressure, diabetes, weight, etc.
• Sharing the TV to route information and services in response to the data acquired
