“Tony always has great classes and is a fun teacher. Tony offers hints to continue exploring

the projects at home. His instructions are to the point, and he gives the details that I will

September 2018

Welcome to the spring 2019 catalog of lifelong learning opportunities offered

through Lewis-Clark State College.

The Learning Resources Network (LERN), an association for programs of lifelong learning identified multiple benefits of lifelong learning. Some of these benefits include:

· Maintaining and increasing one’s mental health.

· A longer life – as lifelong learning keeps the brain sharp and active.

· Personal development – people of all generations indicate they engage in lifelong learning for reasons of personal development, including quality of life, the community and society.

· Changing lives – Studies indicate lifelong learning literally changes lives. One example, - Rosa Parks, did nonviolent training before she created history in the civil rights movement, to the benefit of all.

There is a Chinese Proverb which tells us ‘Learning is a treasure that will follow its

owner everywhere’.

I hope the classes offered this spring and summer will provide ways in which to improve your life through learning, and that your learning becomes a treasure to follow throughout your life.

Happy Spring,

Debi FitzgeraldDirector, Continuing Education
