    • Submission Deadline: April 25th

    • Service hours are hours spent working collaboratively with and through groups of people affiliated with local nonprofit, independent, and community-based organizations focused on improving the quality of life for community residents. Specifically for public health faculty, staff, and students, in line with the School of Public Health’s mission, service hours focus on advancing the public’s health and addressing issues affecting the well-being of the state of Louisiana.

    • Practice Experience, IPSA, SOAR, student worker, and paid service hours are not eligible for community service hours.

    • Submission Deadline: April 26th

    • The Beth Schmidt Staff Member of the Year Program is intended to be a formal method for acknowledging the contributions of individuals who are recognized by their colleagues as outstanding staff members.

    • Nominations may be submitted by any employee in the School of Public Health, including staff, administrators, and faculty. Nominations must be submitted electronically via letters of support through REDCap. Nominations can be submitted at any time during the year. Nominations for the award are due the last Friday in April.

    • Today, April 23rd in MDL 3 on the 4th Floor of the MEB

    • First aid course providing basic bleeding control techniques like tourniquet use and wound packing

    • Students who complete the course eligible to become assistant instructors for future courses

  • NOLA Ready CERT

    • NOLA Ready Community Emergency Response Training

    • When: June 8th and 15th from 9am to 5pm

    • Where: New Orleans EMS Headquarters, 2929 Earhart Blvd

    • Free training in disaster preparedness and response; mixture of classroom sessions and hands-on activities

  • Graduation Event

    • Celebration on May 8th from 11am to 2pm in LEC 303

    • All are welcome: friends, family, students, faculty, alumni

    • Free food, cap/gown photos, goodie bags for all attendees, door prizes and raffles, end of semester recap video, 2018-19 school year slideshow, and a Student Government Association class gift and awards ceremony
