Flipping The Classroom

The class is designed to help people understand what a flipped or inverted

classroom model is, and part of the class would be doing the thinking

involved in making the flip. A huge part of it involves learning about the

many tech tools that form a part of the model, and seeing examples across

disciplines of the many teachers around the world who are doing this now.

It’s a huge shift in how we think about face-to-face time, and it stems from

changes in digital culture.

Augmented Reality 101: Creating Interactive Learning

Experiences

Augmented reality (AR) technology uses the capabilities of a smartphone

or tablet to augment or supplement the real-world environment. This

workshop will primarily focus on image-based AR technology, which

utilizes an image as a “marker” to display computer-generated information

on top of it. The information is interactive and can include buttons, videos,

graphics, websites, and more. In the classroom, an AR “marker” can be any

sort of printed classroom material or image. For example, a math

worksheet enhanced with AR technology can reveal links to helpful

resources or show a video of how the problems can be solved.

This workshop will explain in more detail about AR technology and how to

easily create your own interactive AR experiences. Upon successful

completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify what augmented reality is and how it can be used in the classroom.

Create their own augmented reality experiences (utilizing a free augmented

reality platform called Blippbuilder).
