is targeted. For example, if someone’s a brilliant athlete their intuition’s in-forming their athleticism. Or if some-one is a great intellect or a great musi-cian it might come to them differently, and some are spiritually intuitive.

Sonia: It comes through for every-body most obviously in what you love. That’s because it originates in the heart in the most authentic self and what you love is an expression of your most authentic self. That is where the sixth sense demonstrates itself first. Someone who loves real estate is going to have the knack for it, or a doc-tor who loves healing and medicine will have an intuitive sense with people’s health. The second place it presents itself is with the people you love; you’ll feel it in your personal intimates, in your family, with your children. But the thing is, it can be stretched. Like any muscle it can be developed to oper-ate in all arenas of your life, and that’s what it should and can be developed into with the slightest bit of attention.

LN: You’ve spent your entire career,

more than 30 years, helping people on the intuitive level to be more closely aligned with their spiritual self. When did you know that you had the gift of a strong intuition?

Sonia: It was never an “ah-ha” mo-ment. I was always intuitively aware and when I started school it became ap-parent that what I felt in my bones and in my body and what I could perceive intuitively was neither shared or en-

couraged by others. I feel very strong-ly that we all start at the same place, with a perfectly functioning intuitive radar, but it gets shut off by our social conditioning. In my case I didn’t have social conditioning that interrupted it because in my family, intuition was a valued sense. Other people who come

from families where intuition was a valued sense also say that it was just very natural and commonplace. So I’m not unique, though I am very for-tunate. I’ve studied it enough to know that when any person of any age gives the same support and attention to their intuition, it’ll bounce right back into operation. It’s a very resilient sense.

LN: People learn to listen to and trust their intuitive self at the Process. I’m

thinking of those parts of the Process where we recognize our spiritual selves, and also where we do that beautiful in-tuitional understanding of our parents’ child-hood.

Sonia: What’s so fabu-lous about the Process is that it engages the truth that intuition is timeless. It transcends time and

space so you can become accurately in-formed, which is what happens in the Process when we have the healing with our parents and the conversation with the child of our mother and the child of our father. That accurate informing is a gift of the intuition.

Corrections to our Contributors ListThank you for Giving. Please accept our corrections to the list of 2007 contributors:

FUNDRAISING

The Hoffman Institute Foundation (HIF) became a non-profit organi-

zation so that your gifts could make a difference and we could keep our tuitions within reach. Tuitions cover only 80 percent of our total costs, and we fundraise for the rest. It is only through your gifts that we exist, evolve, and expand.

Here are a few of the many won-derful ways graduates keep the Pro-cess alive today, and pay it forward for others:

Birthday Gifts – Instead of buying a friend or fellow Process graduate a birthday gift, donate to the Institute in their name.

Help Hoffman Every Month – Sup-port the Institute through recurring (monthly) gifts. Graduates typically give from $10 to $500 a month!!

Donate Proceeds – If you are a pho-tographer, take a photo and donate a percentage of the proceeds from their sale; if you are a musician, donate a song or proceeds from the sales of your song.

Gift of Spirit – Give to that which spiritually touches and nourishes you; for many, this is the Hoffman Institute.

Class Gifts –Come together on behalf of your Process class to raise money for scholarships. Individual classes have raised from $500 to $30,000! Consider making a class gift, or take the lead and spearhead your class giving campaign.

Gifts of Appreciated Stock – Con-sider a gift of appreciated stock; ben-efit the Institute and receive tax ad-vantages.

Scholarship Soirees – Host a gath-ering in your home; raise money for scholarships, or simply request that gift be sent to the HIF as thanks.

You are the future, the immense morning skyturning red over the prairies of eternity.

You are the rooster-crow after the night of time, the dew, the early devotions, and the Daughter,

the Guest, the Ancient Mother, Death.

You are the shape that changes its own shape, that climbs out of fate, towering, that which is never shouted for,

and never mourned for,And no more explored than a savage wood.

You are the deepest meaning inside thingsthat never reveals the secret of its owner.

And how you look depends on where we are:from a boat you are the shore,

from the shore a boat.

GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT

Process graduate and Advisory Council member Ken Druck, a

noted organizational consultant and author, lost his beautiful and talented daughter Jenna at the age of 21 in a tragic accident while she was studying abroad in 1996.

Ken found that support for bereaved parents and families is often elusive during their darkest, most difficult hour.

Less than a year after Jenna’s death, Ken was told about the Process by a dear friend, Dr. Harold Bloomfield. “I am grateful I found a safe place to go into the depth of my heartache and an-ger with God -- and begin to transform my pain into an expression of love that would honor my daughter, my family, my own life and even the world,” he said.

During the Process, Ken had a pro-found and comforting vision in which he was met by Jenna’s outstretched hand at the end of his River of Life. “Jenna would expect nothing less of me than to use what I was learning at the bottom of pain to help other fami-lies who suffer.” Ever since, he’s been doing exactly that.

In 1996 Ken founded the Jenna Druck Foundation (JDF), a non-profit organi-zation offering free support services

Ken is considered an international expert on turning life’s tragedies into opportunities and has appeared mul-tiple times on Larry King Live and Oprah. He has delivered inspirational keynote speeches at Harvard School of Public Health, YPO and for hundreds of conferences. Ken is often called upon in complex, critical incident situ-ations such as in New York after 9/11, following the Columbine and Santana school shootings and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Ken will share his wisdom, compas-sion and insight with Process gradu-ates when he leads a Teleclass titled “Healing The Grieving Heart.” During the call Ken will guide us on acknowl-edging loss and transforming grief into profound spiritual deepening, compas-sion, and hope for the future. Ken’s Teleclass is Wednesday May 21st at 5:00 PM Pacific/8:00 PM Eastern. Please register at hoffmaninstitute.org or call 800/506-5253. We hope you will join us!

LN: We say that being disconnected from one’s intuitive self leads to fear and confusion, and conversely, being connected to our intuition leads to a more authenticated, integrated life.

Sonia: Absolutely. If we lose all of our senses but we still have our intuition, we will be fine. But if we lose our in-tuition while all our other faculties are still working, I can’t say that is so.

Helen Keller is a great example of this. She was completely disconnected from her other resources and directly relied on her intuition, and she became one of the most prolific healers and teachers of our time.

LN: Right, a miracle person. I’ve heard it said that a highly intuitive person can sometimes help others heal more than they can heal themselves. So I

have to ask, what happened for you at your Process?

Sonia: I was motivated to go to the Pro-cess for personal historical problems and because I was working on a book called “The Intuitive Spark,” about intuition in a family. At the Process I realized that even in a family like mine which is highly intuitive, family patterns can

Even though I was an extremely intuitive person when I went in, when I came out my intuition was much more powerful, expansive, compassionate, lucid and much more patient. When I left the Process a deep sense of knowing settled in, that as long as I follow my spirit all things will fall into order. And now it’s been 12 years and it’s deepened --

LN: Wow, it’s been 12 years? Time flies.

Sonia: I know! That’s one of the rea-sons why I enthusiastically encour-age my clients and students who are blocked or have self-doubt or are un-comfortable in trusting their intuition, to go to the Hoffman Process.

LN: Because as you stop identifying with your negative patterns…

Sonia: You begin to recapture your authentic essence, which is the direct informing of the intuitive self. The Pro-cess reveals for most people the spiri-tual self as a valid and legitimate self, so they become conscious of this spirit that is reliable.

LN: One of the things closely looked at in the University of California research

study was spirituality. Not religios-ity but every day spiritual experience, connectedness to people, to nature, and feelings of oneness. Those spiritu-al feelings went up dramatically after taking the Process. Not only did those feelings stay up, but a year later they had gone up even higher. I be-lieve that once you give your-self permission to live that way, you cross through a certain gateway and there it is.

Sonia: It’s like a butterfly out of a cocoon for a lot of people. They cross a threshold into a new perspective that’s much richer and deeper. I tell people that once you become introduced to your intuitive spiritual self you have to work those muscles because you’ve had years and years of ignoring them. So in my work, and where I see it working beautifully at the Process, I’ve created systems in which people can comfortably, naturally work those in-tuitive muscles in a way that is subtle and grounded.

LN: You recently introduced a coach-

ing program called “Psychic Sit-ups.” Can you tell us about it?

Sonia: Yes, I love it! By doing psychic sit-ups you get your “intuitive six-pack.”

LN: [Laughter]

Sonia: In working with people for nearly four decades I know that intu-ition is like any other muscle -- you have to work it; to check in with that inner voice and begin to develop a strong connection. The way to do that most effectively is in bite-size exercises that attract your attention back to your intuition and give it a voice and a vote. It’s like “this is what my emotional body says, this is what my history says, well what do my vibes say?” I call it

that because your intuition is a vibra-tional frequency.

LN: What’s the structure of the Psychic Sit-ups program?

Sonia: The program is one year long. Once each week you get an email from

me in which I introduce a 7-min-ute video on an intuitive, fun ex-ercise for that week. It’s typical-ly small and quite inviting and you can watch it every day and you can just record your results and watch your progress. This program keeps people faithful to their intuition without it be-ing a burden. Whatever day of

the week you choose, you receive the video, and I’ve also compiled the entire library of 52 weeks onto a DVD, in the event that someone wants to keep re-visiting them. It’s like meeting with a personal trainer every week.

LN: So psychic sit-ups let people get better at faithfully exercising their intu-itive muscle and living more fully from their spiritual self.

Sonia: Every week a person can get a little stronger, a little more confident, a little more comfortable. There’s also a chat room so people can communicate with each other. They’re having a blast because they have support and com-munity and they begin to connect with one another and to build this bond with others vibrationally. They learn first hand that this is a valuable sense and that they’re not alone in giving this validity and importance in their life.

LN: That’s beautiful.

Sonia: It was kind of an intuitive hit on my part to do that. I woke up one day and I thought, I need to teach peo-ple the way I was taught.

I get to remind people that the impor-tant thing is to work those intuitive muscles every day just like any other muscle, if you want it to be strong and reliable. And it feels good!

LN: That’s fabulous. Thank you so much, Sonia.

Sonia: Thank you, Raz, and all my love to the Hoffman community.

TEACHER FEATURE

Process teacher Tim Callan has had an amazing and distinguished ca-

reer. And that was BEFORE he became a Process teacher!

Tim’s path is one of unexpected twists and for the most part, wonderful turns. He was raised in an Irish-Cath-olic family in California’s bay area. As the second oldest of five kids, he learned independence at an early age, mostly out of necessity -- his dad was a busy CPA and his mom was unavail-able during much of his childhood.

As a boy Tim looked for a sense of belonging that was lacking at home. He dreamed of being a police officer. After high school he enrolled in col-lege to study law enforcement, but as a self-described “average student,” he dropped out after two years, and com-pleted his degree several years later.

In the mid-1960’s, Tim enlisted in the California Army National Guard. There he found his home and over a distinguished 34-year career, he rose through the enlisted and officer ranks and retired from the Army National Guard as a Colonel. He also served for six years as former California Gov-ernor Pete Wilson’s military aide, an intense position that required him to be on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Another of Tim’s most chal-lenging and rewarding assignments was working in Eastern Europe with many Ukrainian institutions support-ing their transition to a democratic form of government. Fortunately, Tim’s first wife Ginny had a military

background, so she understood and supported the commitment his work required. Tim and Ginny’s wonderful 23-year marriage ended with Ginny’s death in 1998.

Tim says, “I’m blessed in that I en-joyed every day of my military career and I haven’t had one minute of regret about retiring when I did. I am particu-larly grateful for what I learned in my leadership assignments. The job of a leader is not to impress followers with his or her brilliance; rather it is to call forth and develop the brilliance of the followers.”

Tim’s always been interested in personal development. When he was in deep grief after Ginny’s death his friend Charlie Bloom, a Process gradu-ate, suggested he do the Process. “At my Process in 1999 I found my spiri-tual essence and the deep sense of con-

nectedness that had eluded me - it was an amazing gift,” he said.

After spending several years in the human potential and personal devel-opment fields, Tim became a Process teacher in 2005. “In becoming a Process teacher, I did an incredible amount of personal work and through it, I learned a lot and deepened my connection to my spiritual self. My awareness of my patterns is very heightened. Patterns still show up, but they don’t have the hook they once did,” he said.

Tim’s strong leadership skills and unwavering commitment to the Pro-cess serve the Institute in several ven-ues. He teaches the Process and the Q2 Graduate Intensive, and as Chief Administrative Officer, he is part of the Institute’s executive team along with Liza and Raz Ingrasci.

Tim has a lot to thank the Hoffman Process for. Several years ago, he met a special woman at a Process gradu-ate group meeting. While she didn’t remember having met him that night, in 2001 Tim and Laurel reconnected when they were both studying to be-come Process teachers. That time Tim made a lasting impression; they mar-ried in 2003.

Today Tim and Laurel live in So-noma, California with their two cats. They love the outdoors -- they cross-country ski, travel, and they both love to read. Tim, with his many years of service to the military, continues to be interested in leadership, politics, world affairs and our government.
